I had the SE Mira and Tremonti but once I tried the S2 Vela I traded them both in towards the purchase. To me the feel of the neck and frets when playing is like night and day compared to the SEs. Solid quality. That's of course my own opinion about it. I understand the electronics are basically...
Unfortunately my money is tied up there.
Update: Shifted my in store credit to the S2 Standard 24 in Mahi Blue. I just can't go back to the feel of the SE once I tried the S2. If Holcomb model comes out in S2 I'll try it.
I had the SE Mira and Tremonti. Emphasis on "had" because once I got a chance to play the S2 Vela (frost green metallic) I had to have it, immediately. I traded both SE guitars towards the purchase the very next day.
While I did indeed like my SEs (liked the Mira more than the Tremonti) I...
Nice, glad it came in great condition. It's not an expensive guitar so it's a win for sure. For me I'm glad it's got a tone of it's own, different from my other guitars. Variety, always a good thing. The split coil options really does open up some neat things to try.
Out of the gate I noticed...
I traded in a Jackson SL2 (I don't like the piranhas, I prefer sharkfins) towards the Holcomb at my local shop, so I have store credit built up there. I'm stuck waiting for it arrive at their store but that's ok, I love having something to look forward to.
I'm new to PRS. My local shop is a dealer, and I played a few. I was initially drawn to the brand by the Mark Holcomb SE. I just had to have one, put my order in. Unfortunately the wait is long. I think it's scheduled to arrive sometime in March. In the meantime I've since purchased the Tremonti...
I'm sure it will be. The lighting in photos can really make it look brighter than it really is. I took a few outdoor photos of mine and wow, it was bright red, way brighter than it looks when you're holding it.
Now what is light colored on mine is the rosewood fretboard. When I bought it I...
I started playing metal/thrash guitar in 1986, I was 15. I loved the Aria Pro II line so I used a Knight Warrior and a Bladerunner for all the live shows I played in the 80s. By the mid 90s they were worn out and since they were no longer available I got a Jackson and loved it. Played Jacksons...
Well that would be awesome indeed.
When I emailed PRS customer service a few weeks ago asking about it I was told it was plastic on the Holcomb and Tremonti. I dunno?
Interestingly, just today I was called from the guitar shop where I was having the nut upgraded on my Tremonti and was informed...
It's a plastic nut and I can't stand plastic ones. Sure, some work ok I guess but I just don't like them. I already have the replacement ready to go. lol
At 1k this guitar should come with a graphite/composite nut. Just my opinion though. Otherwise stellar guitar for me, can't wait. You scored...
I have one on order at my local dealer, should arrive sometime in March. Can't wait. I will be swapping out the plastic nut and installing locking tuners as soon as it arrives however.
