    Core Starla pickups question

Such a great guitar. I sadly don’t get along with singlecuts so I sold mine years ago. I found a couple of sets of core pickups and bought them. Sold a pair to a buddy of mine and still have the other set waiting. I figure the S2 Thinline is the closest I’ll get to a Doublecut Starla without...

    Show your SC-J Thinline!

If I had to guess it means “Singlecut-jumbo” but that’s just a guess based on their naming syntax.

    SE Mods

I put in my thoughts. I’ll try to snap a picture of my Starlas so you can see what they look like. There’s no mistaking core ones for import ones

    Core Starla pickups question

The Starlas are definitely like a Filtertron and PAF had a love child. They are beautiful clean but take dirt really well.

    Core Starla pickups question

Core Starla pickups follow the same naming syntax as the regular USA made pickups. I can say from first hand experience that the import ones are quite far away from the core Starla pickups. I had 2 sets, and sold one to a friend here. Saving the second set for when I finally get an S2 Thinline

July 300 McCarty Korina @ GC Used

Still pretty pricey, especially with no birds. Damn me for not buying one from Dave’s for like $8 and a pack of Marlboro reds when they blew out a slew of them years back. :(

PRS 57/08 pickups...whatcha think about 'em?

To me, the newer ones are more bassy and the early ones have a little more bite to them. Just my personal observation.

PRS 57/08 pickups...whatcha think about 'em?

Yeah, HB Spruce. It’s very resonant but also cuts really nicely.

PRS 57/08 pickups...whatcha think about 'em?

The best ones are the ones that read “1957/2008” on the back I have a 57/08 in the neck and 59/09 in the bridge on this one.

Anyone own a PRS SE One?

I personally did. But ended up selling it since I don’t get along with singlecuts.

Anyone own a PRS SE One?

I modified mine. I bought a Paul’s Guitar treble and installed it in place of the P90

Anyone own a PRS SE One?

SE Ones are super cool. Wish that I got along with singlecuts. I took an inspiration from Hans on my old one.

    Few questions about a '00 custom 22

If you like the guitar, how it feels and plays unplugged then you can always change the pickups.

One set of pickups out...a new set in...PRS SE Soapbar

I am beyond amazed with the versatility of the P90 Mira. It can do pretty much everything.

One set of pickups out...a new set in...PRS SE Soapbar

If I didn’t have an amazing experience with Wolfetone for P90’s I would have gone with BKP for my Mira

What SE/S2 should I try next

Vela, S2 Thinline are the two on my list. Would love to have a Vela again, and a Thinline is as close as I’ll get to a Doublecut Starla

    Custom 22

Dragon 1’s are some of my favorite PRS pickups. The neck is an uncovered McCarty basically. I have a set in my Standard 24. I really want a 90’s-early 2000’s McCarty to add a nice vintage vibe to my group. Sergio does like to remind me that I do infact have a McCarty, she’s just hollow and...
