    PRS quality: 1980's vs 90's vs 00's vs 10's vs 20's.....

The 90s instruments used poly finishes, bit I’m not sure if it was the same formulation as used on the SE.

Need to clean fretboard on NUGD!! Few questions....

    1. You can scrape it with something like a drivers license or credit card if there is gunk built up on the fingerboard. Then, use naptha to clean the board and oil with mineral oil if it is dry after the naptha. Gorgomyte works well, too, but I think it has been sold out everywhere for a while...

    Strings poll

I tend to use 9-46 or 10-46 on solid body electrics in standard tuning (though I’ll go heavier when tuning down), 11-52 on semi-hollow or hollow body electrics, and 12s or 13s on acoustics depending on which sounds better on each guitar.

    Fretboard binding. In or out?

Binding doesn’t necessarily make things more difficult, just stay away from Gibson style biding with nibs. Instead, run the ends of the frets over the binding as if it were part of the fingerboard.

    Fretboard binding. In or out?

I like it, but it would depend on the model and finish. Also, some of the better looking binding I have on guitars is flamed maple or koa, so binding needn’t be limited to plastic.

Opportunity to buy an Employee Guitar

I can’t predict the future, but I also can’t imagine that it would lose any more value than a core SC HB I, either.

I can only choose one? Which though?

Nah, PRS guitars are great, but they‘re not the only great guitars out there. There’s no shame in grabbing something that compliments your PRS collection. Congrats!

    Everyone! ;)

I can only choose one? Which though?

OK, so barring those, then, any of the above would compliment what you currently have. Or you can always look for an upscale version from Suhr, Tom Anderson, Pensa, or other higher end builder on par with PRS.

I can only choose one? Which though?

You don’t have a tele, a Gretsch with Filtertrons, a Rickenbacker with toasters, a 12-string Rickenbacker, a Danelectro with lipstick pickups, a Teisco with gold foil pickups, a shred guitar (Jackson, Ibanez, et. al.), an acoustic, a classical, a National resonator, a Dobro, a MIDI guitar…

Great - thanks for clarifying, garrett!

PRS 58/15 LT vs Suhr Thornbuckers

When you say the Thornbucker does well with the PRS resistor wiring, do you mean like on the DGT or the newer TCI wiring?

I’d be interested to hear from people who have played both, too.

Silver Sky pickups feedback squeal and whistle

I don’t have a Silver Sky, so I can’t comment on their pickups. But if they are unpotted (like vintage pickups), they will squeal a lot more than modern, wax potted pickups.

Any of you guys lead players/shredders?? And whats your guitar of choice?.

Yeah, I can shred on anything, including my acoustics and my CU24s, but I really prefer a flatter fingerboard radius and jumbo frets. Maybe it’s time to contact the PTC…

My go to for shredding is a Jackson Soloist.
