    2020 Silver Sky QC issues

Where did you order it from? Some of that could be due to poor shop handling rather than poor QC. I purchased mine from GC, off the wall, and it has a neck pocket finish crack too. Not a big deal, I saw it before I purchased it but the guitar itself was so good I didn’t want to risk trying...

the pedalboard is from Atlas Stands. He makes some really cool amp stands but sometimes does some pedalboards and I really like them. Also have a bigger two row board but found it just a little too large for me and this single row 24” wide one has just always felt right to me. atlas-stands.com

    Bolt on neck popping sound

Yeah, when I loosened the screws under tension it gave a slight creak...that always happens when doing that in my experience, unless it’s already been done and the neck is fully seated against the bod already. It’s a little scary the first time but it’s just the string tension pulling the neck...

    Bolt on neck popping sound

I do the same thing with pretty much every bolt neck guitar I’ve owned. It just makes sure the neck is fully seated up tight to the body. Did it on day one with my Silver Sky (which actually seemed pretty well seated already based on the limited sound it made....unlike some fenders I’ve done...

NGD - So psyched about new Silver Sky

Yeah, the Silver Sky is really good! I had a Custom Shop Strat that I thought was everything I wanted. The neck one day I sat down at a GC and played a Silver Sky and just absolutely loved it. Took it home with me and just kept wanting to play it over my CS. Just recently sold the Custom...

    Sliver Sky Owners!!!!!

Have Strats, my ‘96 that I got brand new when I was 16 and then a Custom Shop I bought last year. I picked up the Silver Sky for something different after playing and loving it at GC. I expected to enjoy it as an alternative but wasn’t sure I’d keep it long term. But now, I’m considering...

    Got my Silver Sky!

Yeah, the neck and the pickups are the star of the show for me. It’s incredibly comfortable and just sounds amazing!

    Got my Silver Sky!

Congrats!! I’m about 6 weeks into having mine and I love it! Really giving my FCS Strat a run for the money. I wouldn’t worry about the paint chip, it’s super tiny and if that’s a new one it’s nitro finish and probably pretty thin. Doubt it’ll be an issue. Mine came with a neck pocket...

Silver Sky owners - also play Strats or gave them up?

Good advice, thanks all! Definitely not in a hurry, just something I’ve started thinking about after liking the Silver Sky even more than I expected. Will keep both for a while and see if the feeling sticks around.

Silver Sky owners - also play Strats or gave them up?

I’ve always been a die hard Strat player. First guitar was a Strat knock off then at 16 I got an American Strat Plus in ‘96. Got back into playing a few years back now and eventually got myself a Custom Shop ‘61 Strat and it’s a great Strat. But last month I was in GC and picked up a Silver...

Picked up a Tungsten SS from GC today, kinda on a whim. Been very happy with my FCS ‘61 WW10 Strat that I got in January but I like Mayer’s tone and I know PRS builds quality instruments even though I don’t get along with most (since I’m very much a SSS Strat player, have one more ‘96 Strat...

    Least Favourite finish?

Trampas Green has so much variation, I love mine and bought it without playing it because I liked the top and color so much....but there are some Trampas Green guitars that I don’t love. That one color covers a broad spectrum of green tones. My least favorites are the wraps....I like seeing...

    Loose Pots

I always prferred the feel of a tight pot with a bit of resistance to the turning action. Feels sturdy that way and I associated it with quality. So when I got my CU22 not long who I immediately thought the pots were the only spot that felt cheap on the guitar. Then I read that it’s normal...

    Stock pickups on Core guitars

Yeah, I can see where you're coming from. I probably could have looked at a McCarty but I really liked the spec on the Custom 22, I like the body size as it feels very familiar coming from Strats, and I love the Pattern Regular neck. I didn't have a chance to play either since I had to order...

    Stock pickups on Core guitars

I swapped my brand new Custom 22 to 57/08 pickups. I knew going into buying the guitar that the 85/15 pickups might not be quite to my taste which leans towards a more vintage sound. So it wasn't a surprise when I got it and loved everything about the guitar except for the pickups. Put in the...

    What was Your 1st PRS?

Custom 22 in Trampas Green that I just got a few weeks ago actually. I'd been casually browsing PRS for a few months as an option I was just kinda considering. During that time I bought a Les Paul Traditional but ended up returning after short time as I just didn't bond with it and it never...
