Bridge pickup too bright, neck pickup too dark

It's not the output so much as the position under the strings. Neck position always has alot more low end. Lower-winding the neck certainly helps, but a neck humbucker in a mahogany body is still a neck humbucker in a mahogany body... oldest Les Paul "problem" in the book...

    PRS split tones

I have to say, while I think PRS has done the split-coil thing pretty well, it's still not impressing me (on my DGT). I mean, it's ok. For a gigging guitar it's ok. But at home, if I want a single coil neck (for example), I'm picking up my strat or tele. I've never heard any builder's split...

    Good P90 suggestions

I had a P90 guitar once, did a bunch of reading/research, and was all set to buy some Wolfetones for it (Mean neck, Meaner bridge)... but sold the guitar. But yeah, I've heard the Wolfetones, dig them.

    DGT tuning issue

Totally normal behavior for the G string. The PRS trem is a good one, the secret really is in making sure the G slot in the nut isn't binding, and lubrication to help. And it could be something as simple as changing string gauges... like a guitar than came from the factory set up for 11s, but...

Also a lubricant for the nut can really help, I use Big Bends Nut Sauce (har har har)

    BEST Steve Vai interview EVER!!!!

Even people who do not care for Vai's music would really benefit from listening to his interviews... "inside the music" would be a good descriptor. During lockdown, his "Under It All" series on Youtube helped keep me sane. A deep dive into thought and life experience, not only how it relates to...

Amps And Guitars: Are Some Matches Better Than Others?

Me too... I have 3 amps to sell... waiting to see how that new tax thing shakes out... I was able to trade one in on something else, I only got 1/2 of it's used value, but it would have been a PITA to sell, it was very heavy (Fender Supersonic 60W)

Amps And Guitars: Are Some Matches Better Than Others?

re: one guitar and one amp: It is very simple to be happy, yet it is very difficult to become simple.

Amps And Guitars: Are Some Matches Better Than Others?

Absolutely. I won't go into details, it's years and years of owning different gear, but suffice it to say this: I have not yet found THE ONE amp that sounds amazing with ALL of my guitars. Pairings matter. Especially with my Gretsch- those Filtertrons are unlike any other pickup IMO (tonally...

What Are Your Favorite Amps To Play?

Related to this topic of weight, Tom Bukovac recently stated that "good tone is heavy and hard to carry." I agree with him on most things, and even agree with him mostly on this... however, when you start talking about gigs/load-ins/load-outs/stairs, I am willing to compromise my tone a bit (but...

    DGT Too Bright

Hmm... I'm a tele guy and I don't find the DGT too bright? Actually, this is the first time I've heard this complaint.
