I had a rosewood neck 513 about 5 yrs ago. It was BEAUTIFUL...but honestly, a bit too much for my playing ability. It was like driving a Ferrari to the corner to buy a container of milk.... The versatility was amazing, just a bit too ornate..... :)

I overlooked the 509 when it was first released because I didn't really look at the specs...thinking it was just a downgrade from the 513. Anyway...it's quite an intriguing instrument...and it's got me interested. Was there ever a 509 released with a maple neck/ebony fretboard? PRS has done...

Thanks for the link...... It looks as if they eliminated the maple neck option. You used to be able to get maple/ebony in place of the regular mahogany/rosewood or mahogany/ebony. Oh well.....

Anyone have any idea when the "Artist Package" option is coming back?

Yes they will... I enquired about this a couple years ago. I wanted to go from Rosewood to Ebony. At the same time, I asked about adding birds. The answer was "yes" I plan on sending in a McCarty and changing the "regular" birds to "Brushstroke" birds. Hope this helps Tony
