Yeah, I hear ya. I actually don't like binding on most PRSi, but binding on the Santana along with the headstock veneer ups the "wow" factor for me. IMO it completes the guitar aesthetically... It just looks right. Any way, it looks I'll be trying to find a 2011/2012 model which shouldn't be...
