Finally got the call from my Sweetwater rep this morning and a gold top SE is incoming. He said their backorder number on the gold tops is around 500 guitars.

I have an SE DGT on order and it will get a set of locking tuners when it arrives. With the absence of a locking nut they are essential if the guitar has a trem.

Looks good, I just got on Sweetwater's list. My rep said the initial shipment sold out, the next shipment expected in a month is sold out and I'm somewhere on the shipment after that. Gold top with moons.
The push-pull function on my DGT doesn't bother me. As to the OP's question of why PRS does or doesn't make it this way instead of that way, my guess would be that DG of the DGT wanted that particular function in that particular way.
Thanks for the reply. I passed on the amp, not quite what I was looking for at this time. Actually, I wasn't really looking but just thought the limited nature of the amp might make it a cool thing to own. Best to keep an eye out for something I really want.
A friend of mine who has a studio has one of these for sale, he bought it from the estate of a PRS enthusiast who apparently purchased it at an experience event. It's a 212 combo covered in paisley...there's a Wildwood video where Doug Sewell says there were 25 of these made.
