Your top R&D priority for Paul? Mine is ...

Reasonably priced custom shop options. It'd be nice to have a few tweaks done to an existing model without going full private stock.

What PRS does the best "Telecaster" impression?

The 594 does some of that tele vibe but it's not near punchy enough to nail it. It's just totally different sounding. What I'm really looking for is something that sits in between the 594 and Tele in the bridge position. Want more low end punch, clarity, and note separation on the bridge without...

What PRS does the best "Telecaster" impression?

I have a tele, I don't want another tele. I want something that sits in between my tele and my 594. I want all the clarity I get from the neck position of the Tele with a little more juice from the bridge position. My 594 sounds great on the bridge position, I really love it, I do wish it was...

    85/15s rock!

I will post in this thread as a follow up to say that I definitely like my 85/15s now. The day I bought my CU24 I was very happy with it but shortly after it seemed like it was losing its mojo. I messed with the pickup heights, swapped pickups, and was ready to give up on the thing until my...

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

I did play it that way for a few minutes and it does take some care to not be poked in the eye when picking it up or putting it down.

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

I JUST KNEW SOMEONE WOULD SAY IT! I'd just put them on and tuned it up when I saw a post asking for a picture sooo I suppose I'll have to post another when I get home and they're clipped off

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

I'm not sure what BGWB stands for but I'm pretty sure mine is charcoal burst? To be honest I hardly looked at the thing before I bought it. I loved the way it played and sounded I couldn't put it down. For some reason a few months afterward I started feeling like the 85/15s weren't my thing. It...

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

It really is in person. I hate to sound like "that guy" but it's exceptional considering it's just a "run of the mill" CU24 (if you can call any of the Core models that?) How did you get the pic to embed? It wouldn't do it for me?

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

Hopefully I can get it to work. Just a quick one, not a good one. It's not a 10 top but the picture really doesn't do it justice. I think it looks awesome with the covered pickups in it too! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a3kZWPsLRmE6BNfaakx-vo0cbM2Tue95/preview

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

Okay, sorry to have bothered you all but I've got I figured out. I only tried one pickup and one mounting ring. As luck would have it one mounting ring is slightly smaller than the other and one of my new pickups isn't quite as square in the corner. Which, in that specific mounting combination...

So if I order a new set they will fit? The set that is on my guitar most certainly does not. The corners interfere with the pickup

Pickup mounting ring help Core CU24

I'm swapping the pickups in my custom 24. The new pickups are covered and the old 85/15s are not so my new pickups will not fit in the mounting ring. I know plenty of PRS guitars come with covered pickups so can someone direct me to the proper pickup mounting rings to order so I don't have to...

    85/15s rock!

I just pulled it out and started messing with them again. I keep coming back to the same place with them as I have in the past. This time I think I'll just leave them there even though they're fairly high it's definitely the sweet spot. Tomorrow I'll warm the tubes up when it won't wake up the...

    85/15s rock!

I loved them when I first played them. I couldn't put the thing down and half the reason was because I could go from the split positions to any of the others and immediately push the amp a bit. They sounded great. Now that I've had it at home for a while I'm almost thinking about swapping them...
