Over the years I've had a lot of different types of amps from high gain 50 watt heads, combos, more vintage style amps or clean platforms and I've always been able to get what I want out of them with a couple pedals. No matter the amp I've had, I've found adding an overdrive over a dirty amp...
Love the clean look of the toggle instead of a blade switch and control layout. I honestly couldn't pick the colour I'd want...black, turquoise or cherry...all beautiful. Congratulations. Nice strap too!
I don't believe this pedal or most overdrives into a clean amp are going to give the desired liquid lead tone which is why I asked about its compatibility with other pedals. I've had a good klon klone before and on a dirty amp it did what I wanted and the ts9 does as well...I've also found I...
I've found the good old Ibanez Tube Screamer to be a great stackable pedal and good on its own for a lead tone.
I have been out of playing electric guitar for the last year or so and recently bought a more simple head/cabinet to get back into it and wanted a basic pedal set up and was thinking...
Anytime I've tried the noise gate I've always thought they castrated the tone. Mind you, I've mostly tried pedals like ISP or MXR. I am a simple pedalboard type player, I really just want an overdrive, boost and/or distortion...maybe a wah. With pick-ups that can handle gain and the right amp...
I think the fly in the ointment is the obscure sized neck pick-up. I intend to use a lot of gain and saturation for a singing lead tone...and while playing I'm sure it won't be a big deal but otherwise as soon as you stop it's got that 60s cycle hum.
I browsed some DeArmound style pick-ups...
Just in case anyone was curious about why the dealer had indicated the Vela AW Satin Semi was discontinued, PRS got back to my inquiry and said that the color code for 2024 has changed.
I did come across that somewhere and I thought a hum bucker sized P90 would be cool. Dimarzio has a lot of nice options and all their descriptions sound like a pick-up I'd like.
If I changed the pick guard, is there a company somewhere that can do a Vela pick-guard for 2 hum buckers or is this...
Thanks for the replies fellas.
I think ultimately I'd have to replace the neck pick-up which I don't mind, in fact I think it's a good opportunity to better customize the look and sound and the guitar is not atrociously expensive where I would feel bad altering it from it's stock form. When I...
I like everything about the Vela Semi. Wanted to clarify a couple of things:
1. If the neck pick-up is a single coil, will it hum and buzz like any other single coil Strat type pick-up? If so are there some good aftermarket hum free alternatives? Seems it is a mini humbucker size or...
Looking to draw on some experience of Vela players...my experience with this type of bridge or Tele bridge is limited. I've mostly had Strat trems and am familiar with the S2 Trem. I can't tell from any photos or the reviews I've seen if those saddle adjustment screws are just sitting on top...
I also wonder why no one manufacturers a bridge as you described. I did come across an Ibanez semi hollow with one that had half circles cut out and I thought about time someone thought of that!
