    Positive Grid Mini amp.

Regarding using the app, in the full sized Spark 40 there are an assortment of knobs for treble, bass, gain, reverb, etc plus four preset tones. Without the app you use it like a normal amp so you are limited to those knobs. With the Spark 40 and Spark Go , they are designed to be used with...

    Positive Grid Mini amp.

I bought a cheap Kindle Fire tablet during black Friday sale last year dirt cheap for just this purpose. It's an android tablet that Amazon ruined with their very limited selection of apps but there are ways to hack it back into a real android tablet, which I did. Then I could use the Google app...

    Clapton's SG 'The Fool' Sells

That's a really cool story and photo. I my opinion Clapton peaked in the Cream years so you were lucky to see him so up close. I never saw Clapton using a Firebird, looks weird in his hands. but my favorite part of the pic is the cop sitting on the stage with Cream, looking bored. I mean, if...

Do you feel like your PRS is too nice?

I have a beautiful 33 year old 10 top and I'm the type that would worry about scratches and scuffs but I'm 'lucky'. I bought it with a fairly long hairline crack up a section of the back and so I'm liberated from worrying about condition and I just play it.

    I restored my '95 Custom 22 today

The amber looks great on your guitar, really compliments the look. I went back to black on mine, most of the tortoiseshell ones I've seem with the amber do have uncovered black bobbin pickups but also have gold hardware and most have more brown tint in the finish too. So the amber works. Mine...

    I restored my '95 Custom 22 today

I don't want to hijack your thread but you inspired me to go ahead and put the amber knobs on my guitar. Tortoiseshell is a hard one to pin down because it is supposed to be brown but sometimes it's red, or in my case sort of a rust red. But it photographs as bright red, it's hard to get an...

    I restored my '95 Custom 22 today

Nice work, you can't even tell it was ever modded. For my nickel, I like the gold knobs more than the black. I'm in the market for a set of amber ones too. my 1990 is tortoiseshell with black knobs and (see my avatar) and I don't know why they did that, just abut every other tortoiseshell one...

    Schon vs. Cain

Coincidentally I stumbled on this video from a Jouney show in Texas just a week ago and original singer/keyboardist Greg Rolie joined the band and did a bunch of their old songs and one number where Steve Lukather came out to trade solos with Schon on Black Magic Woman which Rolie sang...

    Short fingers curse

Look for models of Strats that have the 7.25" vintage radius. They have a very slim feel in the hand. There are lots of models from USA and Mexican lines that have that vintage profile. Might very well be able to find one in a local guitar store to try out if you want.

    Just In Case (Historical Reference)

Basic 1990 standard issue PRS case. This one has seen some things, kinda beat up and the wood is actually broken in a spot on the top. Previous owner told me a bookshelf collapsed from the wall and fell on it.

Were your parents into rock music?

My mom and dad were both born just three years before Elvis. Yet they were the biggest squares you could imagine. Mom was into show tunes and stuff like Perry Como. My dad never showed any interest in music at all. He tuned his car radio to the local news station and broke the knob off. But he...

    Porcupine Tree

I've been a huge Porcupine Tree fan for a long while. Saw them twice before (first time at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park which is a legendary intimate venue if you have a chance to see a show in the original club) and my third and likely last time will be on Saturday this week. I'm pleased...

What Are Some Of Your Favorite Solos? Let's Discuss!

Clapton played with a lot of attitude when he was a young man. This must have blown minds in 1966, that Les Paul being played through a cranked up Marshall ... new and magical.

    Old Dog, New Tricks.

I'm a hack. I know it. And one nice thing about not being good at any one thing is that I can try anything and I'll be just as good at it in short order (which is to say, a hack at even more things). I'm a rock guy but I've butchered some jazz, classical, a little pop here and there if it's...
