    What was Your 1st PRS?

Mine was a surprise purchase as I wasn't looking for another guitar at all and thought I was happy with what I had (a Jackson Soloist at the time). My wife was dragging me around the shops in Birmingham and I called into a guitar shop to relieve the boredom. I found a used PRS SE Custom 24, 25th...

    Why the hatred?

First of all, let it be said that I've only ever owned PRS SE Custom 24 guitars. Other then these, I've had an Ibanez RGT, Jackson Soloist, Mexican Fender Stratocaster and Gibson Les Paul Studio. The Ibanez was just worse! The Jackson was awesome and with MUCH better pickups than the PRS but a...

    Creamery Pickups

Background I’ve written loads of reviews of different pickups over the years and mostly these have been based on Bare Knuckle pickups but a year or so ago I took a chance with a set of Classic ’83 pickups from Jaime at The Creamery in Manchester. I think it’s fair to say that I was very...

    Pots

I thought it was short but a friend said I should get long as short ones were to go on scratchplates! I was sure I'd got short ones last time and although it was a tight fit, they did work.

    Pots

Do I need long shaft or standard shaft CTS pots for a PRS SE Floyd Custom 24?

    Guitar Shootout

I recently sold my PRS SE Custom 24, partly because I just never gelled with it, unlike the previous one, and partly because I wanted a different trem system. After much deliberation, I finally got to have a shootout between the three guitars I’d narrowed my choice down to so I thought I’d share...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

This is true but I think the price is a real issue here in the UK. I've noticed that the response to the S2 is very different on British forum sites and from British posters. I spoke to a friend who has about £1000 (ish) budget for a guitar now and I know he's been researching them as a possible...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

I like the idea well enough :pand I bet I'll like the guitars :D, I'm just not struck on the price point it's set at here

PRS pickups VS seymour duncan and VS dimarzio

Those stock PRS pickups are actually pretty good. I've also used Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio pickups and while I much prefer DiMarzio, as soon as I'd tried Bare Knuckle, I just couldn't use anything else. They're more expensive but until you've tried them, you wouldn't believe just how good and...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

I have no axe to grind at all; I think PRS are wonderful guitars, which is probably why I have two of them and you are certainly right that taxes are a major issue here. You'd normally expect the price in Sterling to be a bit lower than US Dollars so $1179 where you are should equate to about...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

I notice that GuitarGuitar have them listed at £1250. I will reserve final judgement but for £1250 I'd beexpecting a VERY nice guitar with some quality hardware on it and made fromsome quality wood. That sort of money will get you a very well equipped and andvery well made Japanese guitar and...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

While there are some bits I don't agree with there, I think that is probably just because I'm not from Maryland and not even American so you may well be right. I do however, agree with the last bit you said wholeheartedly. It would be a shame to see the SE line go as they are incredibly good...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

Obviously I wouldn't be expecting a full spec PRS made in Korea for the price of the S2, all I'm saying is that by having production in Korea it would have freed up a bit of money to make the guitar itself better. I may be cynically British but this whole argument about things being made with...

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

By the same token, it may be £400-£500 more expensive than an SE but part of that HAS to be down to higher American production costs. By the same token, it's still £1000-£2000 cheaper than a proper USA made PRS so they're certainly cutting a hell of a lot of cost from somewhere.

PRS S2 Series - USA Built!!! For $1179!!!

I'm certainly not saying that they're bad guitars; I have no doubt they'll be superb but it boils down to where your priorities lie to get the guitar to a specific price point. It seems to me that PRS had two choices: 1) Build the guitars in the USA and save costs on the hardware instead. OR 2)...
