Update: Guitar Center is sending my P22 back to PRS for evaluation/repair. Since this has been an intermittent problem, my concern is that it will be hard to duplicate and nail down. I hope they discover the issue and fix it. For now, I wait. :violin:
PRS P22 less than a year old ... has developed an intermittent problem with just the 4th string Piezo ... I will be taking it back to Guitar Center next week ... has anyone else had problems like this?
Good thread ... as a fairly new P22 owner, I'd be interested in as much feedback as possible on what strings have been tried and which were settled on and why. I didn't like the strings that GC put on it when I bought it ... they were too acoustic sounding for the magnetic side ... I haven't...
Just a report ... I checked the PRS website and found both of my pickups on the P22 were too high per the suggestions from the website ... I basically lowered them to the spec (maybe just a little lower on the bass side for both pups) ... the P22 sounds much better now .... I may tweak some more...
Yep ... with single cable the Piezo control works differently than when using 2 cables ... it took me a while to get used to the differences as well ...
If your pickups sound a little too bassy to you, is it possible to affect that by raising or lowering them? Would you raise or lower only the bass string side? To lower do you loosen the screws and tighten to raise? I am seeking to get a little more clarity with the magnetic pups on my P22...
I've had my P22 for about a month now ... I prefer running to 2 amps, a Fender DRRI for mag and Fishman Loudbox Artist for piezo ... for me, I get a very nice set of tones this way and can mix the volumes depending on the song ... my first gig with the P22 did not offer many options so I went...
I was surprised last night at a practice to find my P22 9-volt battery was virtually dead ... I was wondering what the expected battery life (hours) should be?
When is the battery in use? I know it is in use when the Piezo output on the guitar is plugged in ... but is it also in use when...
So, in the next few days will be my first opportunity to play out with the P22 ... I have been experimenting at home with running to both an acoustic and electric amp and then just running to one amp and mixing the Piezo with Magnetic ... while the 2 amp model (running the Piezo to acoustic amp)...
My goodness ... that is very nice! I have a P22 ... I am curious as to your comment, "After lowering the neck pickup and raising the pole pieces" ... what does this address? Thanks.
I have a 2006 CU22 ... it sounds great direct to the amp ... I only have a Fender DRRI and Super Champ XD ... my pedal board is very minimal and I am predominantly a clean tone player ... just as the first responder, I have found I enjoy playing more with less "clutter" b/t guitar and amp ...
Of course, I am very new to the world of PRS, but as much as I like the Piezo on my P22 and as much positive feedback as I have read/heard about the Piezo feature, I can't imagine the PRS guys aren't thinking of many ways to take advantage of providing that feature on many other models ...
