Was using a 5D II with a 400mm L lens. We have flocks of the white/yellow and pink/grey all the time in town here. Haven't seen the black ones since childhood tho, so was excited when they showed up.

Flock of black cockies flew past today - snapped a shot that reminded me of the Americana inlays. Thought I'd share. :)

Looks like hard eastern maple ("Michigan" )to me. Many of the highly figured tops will be bigleaf (softer) western maple. Could be part of what you're liking about the tone of that one.

It would be much less confusing if we were talking millimetres rather than fractions of inches!

I'm not super keen on the pumpkin tint that Fender uses on some of the reissues. Prefer a clearer look that ambers naturally with age.

I know you'll be disappointed, though it's not my fine work! :laugh: It was on eBay some years back - guy said that the holes were done to make it more resonant. It went mighty cheap (I should have bid).
