    Pre- and post-carve SEs

At least I think they're carved. Is there much of a tonal difference between the older flat / slab SE Custom 22/24 and the newer, carved Custom 24s? I understand there'll be a difference between 22 and 24 anyway. I'm guessing it'll be a pickup thing if anything. I've got a flat SE Custom 22...

    Is this legit?

Well, I thought that. Asking quite strong money as well even if it was genuine.

    Is this legit?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264686060437 It's an SE245 but I can't see a serial number or manufacturing info on the back of the headstock. I don't want to go reporting it if it's fine... Thanks, Rob.

    SE 245s...again

Yeah. I think I actually prefer the look of the plain mahogany, I like them simple but I prefer the tone of the maple. It's all about tone right?

    SE 245s...again

That'd where I'm at, but the sad truth have is that I probably need to move one of them on.

    SE 245s...again

Not painful at all. Being wrong is how you learn isn't it? I was aware of maple topped guitars described as having more "bite" (nice, vague description there :)), but I wasn't aware of mahogany having more midrange. From an acoustic guitar perspective which is where I have more experience...

    SE 245s...again

Hello, Me again. So I'm fortunate enough to have a pair of SE 245s. A 2011 maple topped and a 2015 plain mahogany. I've posted a thread about my first impressions, but after a bit more playing I'd like to talk about it as bit more (sorry!). Both have fresh strings of the same brand and...

NGD - SE 245 (Sorry, no photos yet)

I've had them out, and they're just G&B 245 pickups, nothing more exciting. A previous owner must have just preferred the look of covered pickups.

NGD - SE 245 (Sorry, no photos yet)

I've been thinking that. I can't find a picture of one with covered pickups and as far as I can see, none of the PRS literature has SE245s with covered pickups. Not definitive, but the pickups each measure a few hundred Ohms more than the plain Mahogany. Bit of a mystery really. I'll pop them...

NGD - SE 245 (Sorry, no photos yet)

I don't think it's the woods. I'm not totally convinced that they have a huge effect (not wanting to start an argument here). I reckon it's more likely to be a pickup or string thing. Or just natural variation between individual guitars.

NGD - SE 245 (Sorry, no photos yet)

Hello, New (to me) guitar day! (Sorry if the pic's too big and I can't edit the title). Apologies for the messy background. 2011 SE245 (maple cap) to go with a 2015 SE245 (plain mahogany). Brief thoughts: Maple cap is lighter. Maple feels more "alive" and seems to sustain longer...

    SE Pickups

Thank you. That's pretty much what I was looking for.

    SE Pickups

So does the spec of the "PRS Designed" SE pickups change every now and again then? If I had the pickups out, I presume I'd find a model number on them? That don't have a name to identify them like, for example, the HFS set? Or like Core pickups? Too many questions... Thanks.

    SE Pickups

I have no particular desire to change them. They work perfectly well for me. I just like to know these things.

    SE Pickups

Hello, My 2009 SE Custom 22 has "PRS Designed" pickups. Is that a specific set of pickups? To me it's sounds like a catch-all term like "Duncan Designed". They're zebras and I might get panned for this but the neck reads 9k and the bridge gives almost 10k through the lead. Thought it might...
