    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

Due to good marketing with tons of videos on the Silver Sky, I did not consider changing the pickups. Besides the tone difference, the back block on the neck, frets and the difficulty bending the strings vs the Silver Sky made me go with the change. If I swapped out the pickups with Seymour...

    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

I have to admit I don't miss my 1982 Fender Stratocaster. I was not aware how the CBS Stratocaster's compared to the models from the 60's when I purchased it. Compares to my Fender , the Silver Sky pickups so better, it's easier to bend the strings, no ice pick on the back pickup and having a...

    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

Thankfully PRS is not changing the pickups or other things on the Silver Sky right now. I don't think it's good to make changes to a guitar so often. The one question I have is are the 2024 Silver Sky's getting the new offical PRS tuning pegs or keeping the ones they have had for a while?

    All PRS Bass Guitars DISCONTINUED?

I would like to see PRS focusing on bass guitars as well and getting the marketing department to work on this project as well. I do find it interesting however that so many players still go for Fender J and P bass guitars today more than any other brand. Even the lovely and talented Tal...

Is anyone else bothered by the larger fret size of some current PRS models?

I agree with you about playing a little more fluid on the smaller fret size. I found on my Gibsons and Fenders, I can play more fluid on them over my PRS guitars. I also don't like small frets as much but my Gibsons and Pro Tele frets are in the right ballpark for my preference. I don't have a...

Is anyone else bothered by the larger fret size of some current PRS models?

My son has a Silver Sky that is several years old. I like the fret size on his guitar. On my newer Silver Sky, they made the frets bigger. I initially liked it because I felt it helped you when you slide into a note to not overshoot the fret. But now I feel that they are a little too big. When...

I don't recommend getting a PRS Silver Sky hard shell case

When they had a sale, I decided to purchase a hard shell case for my Silver Sky. The problem with the case is, it does not fit well with the guitar. The neck does not fully rest of the padding. Its more of the 10th fret and towards the body that really gets support. The rest of it is not really...

    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

Yes it does have a protective film. I left it on until my pick attacks affected some of it. Then I took it off and tried to be more careful with the pickguard. :)

My 1982 Fender American Stratocaster vs Silver Sky Core

There are 3 main differences between these two guitars. I did not realize the last one until today. 1. The Fender has a fuller E, A, and D which provides bigger sound when playing rthy vs the even and balanced sound of the Silver Sky. 2. Toggle switch 1 is brighter on the Fender with no tone...

Core Silver Sky vs SE Silver Sky

This has been discussed already on this older thread and I gave my perspective after A/B them. https://forums.prsguitars.com/threads/us-silver-sky-vs-silver-sky-se.55632/

Any difference when you float the whammy bar on the Silver Sky?

I am curious for those that changed it to float if you noticed any difference with tuning, bending note difficulty, or anything pertaining to its performance. Thanks

A review of the 2023 PRS Silver Sky

I just read an interview in Guitarworld.com of Tora Dahle Aagard (Norwegian guitar player) who I was not too familiar with. She said something in the interview which resonated with me. Stop caring about what is cool and what is expected of you to use. This is the reason why I stayed away from...

What Are Your Favorite Amps To Play?

Fender Twin 1965 Reissue is my favorite amp. It had the best clean sound with its glassy sound. I put wheels on the amp which is a must. For distortion I use a Mesa Boogie, and Boss Angry Driver pedals.

Silver Sky choking out on big bends

I will tell you what helped my Silver Sky, I polished the frets with a Jim Dunlop 5410 micro fret polishing cloth. It helped bending the strings to be smoother and it prevented the choking.
