Looks like the MK body has a different, less "offset", body shape than the NF53. MK is better looking in that regard. Also curious why there is no Blonde/Natural color for the NF53?
I think my preference would be the MK with the NF53 pickups.
The reasons above are why I tried to get PRS to make me a Private Stock CE24 earlier this year. I wanted one equivalent to the older ones, with out the issues of buying a 30 year old guitar. Unfortunately, despite my and John Mann's best efforts, PRS politely declined to make any PS CEs...
They're going to publicly apologize to me for turning down my PS CE24 request.
Either that or they're going to announce drastic restrictions going forward on PS guitars. Cosmetic changes only.
They have to spend all their time making weird guitars for Herman Li only to have him break them in concert.
Inlays, flashy finishes and weird pattern fretboards are simultaneously the least of my concerns, AND the main selling point of PS guitars these days apparently.
That would have been epic.
This kind of goes along with my (brief) experience with the Charvel Custom Shop earlier this year. I wanted a Dinky 22-fret. Basically a Warren DeMartini Frenchie but without the graphics (all white), and direct mount pickups. That would have been the easiest...
So after months of researching the details (as best as I can) of Alex Lifeson's recently auctioned Black CE-24, I approached John Mann's Guitar Vault about building a "tribute" model to it. I say tribute, because it was going to be STRUCTURALLY like the Blackie, but with some hardware and...
I’m jonesing for a Custom 24-08, but I’m not sure how I’ll get long with the Pattern Thin neck profile. My current guitar (Hamer Special FM) is a fairly medium size neck. Not fat 50s, but not “Slim Taper”.
What are your opinions on the thickness (or lack thereof) and width of the Pattern Thin...
I wouldn’t mind PRS putting their efforts into an entirely new pickup for the bridge, but if they going for vintage Tele territory, it could be anything as long as it sounds like a Tele.
Don’t know why I didn’t think of this before, but maybe someone in a previous comment did (I’m too lazy to go back and look):
Hypothetical PRS Tele neck pickup should be a narrow single coil, like the Modern Eagle V middle pickup.
Agreed, but a lot of working teles have probably had the bridge pickup mounted direct to the wood, and not the bridge plate. See GE Smith as an example.
Agreed again...Unless it SOUNDS like a Tele...
