I second the notion of NEVER using steel wool. I use a product called Gorgomyte. I swear by it. It will clean and condition ANY fingerboard AND polishes the frets too. I used nothing else. Check out their website. NOTE... I do NOT work for them. I'm a customer and love this stuff...
If you EVER go with Gibson, go with something older. The only good Gibson nowadays is a Custom Shop guitar, but you'll need a second mortgage to afford one.
Well, I don't mind the pre-cut nuts, as I believe I read somewhere they were cut for 9's, and that's what I use. I will likely have my tech create one out of bone sometime next week. Oh well, I'll be hitting the store up for a refund.
