New weapon of choice for playing Thin Lizzy

Live & Dangerous was the album I learned to play guitar on. You could use the balance control to basically switch 1 guitar off., and vice versa. Still playing: Rosalie, Don't Believe A Word, The Boys Are Back In Town, The Rocker & Suicide in bands to this day. All on a 2006 Custom 24 :)

PRS Tremonti: Fixed vs Tremolo Bridge

I blocked it mainly for string breakages.

PRS Tremonti: Fixed vs Tremolo Bridge

I've 3 trem equipped PRS's. In all of them I've put about a 5mm block of wood between the trem block and the body, with double sided tape. I've then tightened the screws a bit on the spring clamp. This means the trem is "down only", but your issue is solved because the spring pressure is high...

    S2 customs

I wouldn't know as I listen to neither. The tone I go for is essentially Gary Moore's "rock" tone. I play classic rock on high gain. I switch pickups a lot. I found that switching the Dragon 2's didn't offer enough contrast and the bridge pickup underpowered. The S2 sounded better balanced...

    S2 customs

Maybe fatter is the sound I'm after. S2 runs S2 versions of the HFS/VB and the CE has HFS/VB. The bridge pickup seemed unresponsive on the CU, and is noticeably lower output. I initially ordered an HFS, but they were out of stock at PRS UK, hence the Tremonti. It certainly sounds and feels good...

    S2 customs

I have an 2013 S2 CU24 along with a 1999 CE24 (HFS/VB) and 2004 CU24 (Dragon II's). I gigged them the other week through my Boogie Mk4. My wife, in the audience, said the S2 sounded so much better, and richer, than the others. I have to say, it did feel more responsive and resonant than the...

Is fading finishes still a problem?

I find my CE24 in Whale Blue too dark, would it 'lighten' if I exposed it more to UV?

Biggest blunders/pleasant surprises in guitars purchases

I've bought some dogs in my time, and some I even tried in the store before buying. Just shows how blinkered I can be if a want to like something. Best examples: 1) 2013 Gibson Les Paul Studio. I just couldn't live with the neck heavy effect of the chambered body. And the paint fell off if you...

    Extra black speed knobs???

I've just put lampshades on my 2006 CU24, so have a couple of blackbones spare?

Maple Necks on Mahogany Bodies : Tone?

Just a mote. I bought a 2014 Gibson LP Studio, which also had a maple neck. Poor instrument though

Who here has an obscene amount of guitars?

Looks like the puppies are staying, but sadly one of her older dogs has since died. The puppies are such hard work, that she's since said "you can have as many guitars as I like". However, like "do what you want!", and "I'm off home, you stay here in the bar a bit longer", I know increasing the...
