    Cleaner Tone

Oh, I forgot the easiest way to clean it all up. Use the low gain input on your amp. Easy peasy. That is literally what it is there for. Back in the day, cheap guitar had weak pickups, good ones had powerful pickups. The idea behind the high and low gain inputs was to match the input level to...

    Cleaner Tone

Lowering the pickups will make your overall sound cleaner and brighter, it's a fine solution if that's what you're looking for. Many top pro guitarists never open the volume knobs all the way -- treating 7 or 8 as their baseline lead volume. It takes a bit to learn how to play this way but...

    Advice: PRS SE Paul's buzzing

If the buzzing goes away when you touch the strings, it's environmental. Shielding can only do so much in a noisy environment.

PRS SE 22 Custom won’t intonate after plek

Are you saying there's no change when you move the saddles? Or that you just can't get it sharp enough with the saddles move forward. If your saddles are all the way forward, and your strings are still flat, it could be the new nut. Is it slotted correctly, angling downward so the point of...

    Funny PRS Sighting

The song "Vehicle" was the Ides of March, not Blood Sweat and Tears.

    Repair Question - S2 McCarty 594

Depending on how large/deep it is, you may be able to steam it out. If you're not comfortable, a luthier can advise you. Basically, by applying moist heat to the area, the dent will pop out. If there are no cracks in the finish, the final product will be barely detectable (if at all).

Got my s2 Standard 24 Satin today, and it's awesome!

I've got my eye on a antique white satin one. I shouldn't buy more guitars, but...I've got my eye on a antique white satin one.

Anybody else have problems with an SE 3-way switch?

I love both of my SEs, and the toggle on my other one is working fine. The other electronics, especially the pots are quite nice. Looking at the switch closely, I'm not crazy about its design -- the blades are very short and I can see why they could fail. Not taking a chance of it failing on a gig.

Anybody else have problems with an SE 3-way switch?

Contact cleaner did not work, nor did cleaning the contacts mechanically. This ain't my first rodeo and I know a bad switch from a dirty one. I put in a genuine Switchcraft short toggle, not only does everything work reliably now, the feel of the switch is silky and luxurious compared to the...

Anybody else have problems with an SE 3-way switch?

Thanks, that's what I figured. I'll order a new, quality switch.

Anybody else have problems with an SE 3-way switch?

Mine works 90% of the time, but every once in a while, the back pickup won't engage. I can wiggle it into working, but rather than a warranty replacement with another OKish switch, I'm thinking it might be worth it to just bite the bullet and install a Switchcraft SG style.

    PRS SE Alternative Pickups

I put a set of Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers in my SE 245 and I'm very happy with them. Decent power with plenty of clarity. They are available in 4-conductors as well as 2. Reasonably priced and very nice.

    SE 245 Intonation

It's worth the nominal cost to get a professional setup if you're not familiar with how to do it yourself.

    Strings for SE custom 24

PRS Classic 9-42. Same as D'Addario EXL 120. The D'Addarios are available just about anywhere. I've been using D'Addario NYXL strings for the past few years. They cost more, but last a lot longer and maintain a consistent tone throughout their life.

S2 594 Single Cut Weight Balance on knee

Glad you found a solution but: This is the correct answer for heavier guitars. Feel, playability and tone matter to me. If a guitar doesn't sit well on my right leg, well, I've got another leg.
