Thanks for the info. Seems like RMC may have gone out of business - but they were/are a well regarded piezo pickup manufacturer catering more specifically to MIDI/synth guitars.
Godin is a big name that uses RMC pickups. Alembic used the RMC pickup to add MIDI to Jerry Garcia’s rig in the...
That's cool. You could pass those through to a MIDI 13-pin connector as well as retain the piezo analog pickup sound. This way the piezo's act as individual string MIDI sensors in addition to their analog sound. But yah, MIDI is kind of a niche thing I gave up on until I found an old GR-55...
Ok - so I hope this helps. These are the cleanest and most elegant way to install piezo/MIDI sensors into guitars. They track better than Roland products. But it takes some work.
Also - I believe the PRS Hollowbody and other guitars with 'Piezo' pickups use the RMC system - these pickups are...
Has anyone experimented or know anyone who has experimented / installed an RMC retrofit into the PRS tremolo system? The retrofit is really clean looking w no external midi nonsense to be seen beyond the gold piezo sensors for each string.
I have these for an Alembic guitar I own and its fun...

So the NF is a JM model in the Super Eagle with modified pole pieces and I assume modified wiring. Now when my tech looked at the SSH Narrowfield, he did have to rewire it slightly, but for whatever reason, it wasn't setup to be able to coil tap.
Here's an interesting thread...
Also - just for fun, I'm posting my new pedalboard setup here. The pic I posted at the front of this thread showing my studio and pedalboard etc.. is a bit outdated. I wanted to create a setup that lets me make use of MIDI to recall DAW settings on my pedalboards. Essentially creating a...
So you cannot 'tap' the middle narrowfield like the 2 other humbuckers on the SSH (edit: actually it seems you can, see my update to this response in post #57). What I did was rewire it so it could be put in either series or parallel using a mini toggle switch I placed next to the other two...
I have a 2009 SC245 Ted McCarty Soapbar. It's super killer, and I love the 24.5 scale length as well. I have the stock PRS P90's in there.. some kind of SD, but I have a pair of SD Antiquities I want to try. The stock P90's are 'pretty' and do the Piano-esque clean tone thing very well...
So after a few more days with this guitar, I can say I absolutely love it. It took me a second to get used to 24.5, but after a couple days, suddenly it felt like a glove. Tonally, the pickups/guitar is startlingly sensitive to both volume and tone knob changes. This might be fairly normal...
Fralin seems to be the way to go a lot of the time for me. I use his P92's in another guitar, and one of his pickups in my thinline tele. In general I've always loved the sound signature of his pups. However, the fact that beyond the one vintage/traditional P90 offering the rest are...
