The pickups on the new one is not as ‘harsh’ on the ears than the Alpha/Omega set. The new set can definitely do the hard rock/metal thing but I think they are very versatile for other genres of music also.
Some would say that I still don’t know how to play guitar regardless of being 6 or 7 strings. However, I’ve always loved 7 string guitars and hopefully I can learn to play it better this time around.
I had an earlier Holcomb SVN in the Walnut finish with the Alpha/Omega pickups. I was sorry that I sold it but life happens. I was blown away once my Sweetwater rep sent me pics of this guitar…I had to have it!
NGD for me and this will be the last one for a while. After waiting for a month, my Holcomb SVN finally arrived today!!! I will let it warm up in my den first before I make wonderful musical noise with it.
Usually, I would swap out pickups and change the tuners to locking tuners. However, with the current batch of guitars I own, I plan on keeping all the tuners as stock while changing the pickups on the McCartys only. I’ve always wanted to try out the Tremonti pickups and they will be going in...
