Dragon I vs Dragon II Pickups

For me the D1 doesn't sound like a typical ceramic pickup. If you're not aware of the type of magnet used in this pickup, I am pretty sure you won't guess right. I finally put D2 in my SCT, and somehow they have a more modern sound (even if they even Alnico magnet a lower resistance). I guess...

    #6 pickups

That was the way modern pickup set were built in the 80s to 2000s. The idea was to push the amp with a high output bridge PU, combine with a smoother tone neck PU. It started with Dimarzio super distortion, and continued with Jazz / JB. It's what makes the hard rock sound. Personally I like...

    #6 pickups

I found an interview of PRSh in Music radar SCT review => https://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/prs-singlecut-trem-25252 Are the PRS 6 humbuckers just uncovered versions of the Singlecut's 7s, or are there other differences? "Yes, lots of them," says Smith. "A pickup is a magnetic...

    #6 pickups

It can't be  My SCT sounds so different since I swapped the #6 by D2 back in 2019. I can't believe it's just a matter of setting (especially the Bridge PU)

When you drank the PRS kool aid, did your favor ever waiver with any other guitar manufacturer?

I personally love my PRSi, but I also appreciate other guitar models (SG, LP, LP Custom, Strat, Ibanez RG). They all have different flavors. The only thing, is that when you had a taste to PRSi quality, you better focus on high end models if you don't want to be disappointed.

D standard / drop C vs string gauge

@ IceTre 42 Bass side tuned in drop C good luck :D I spent a little hour to fine tune pickups and pole height, and I managed to get something interesting. D1 are maybe the most sensitive PU I played... If you change tuning or string gauge, you need to tweak PU again. I will keep 11-49 for now.

D standard / drop C vs string gauge

@JJJ actually I use 10-46 with E string of 49 on my LP custom tuned in drop D and it's perfect. I liked the CE in 10-46 and D standard, I should Rey to put a 49 as E string, it should be the best of both worlds. @DISTORT6 a 1995 CE22 has to stay with D1s :D

I guess Dragon 1 are maybe a little too full for low tuning...

I have this one in my head since a couple of days:

D standard / drop C vs string gauge

@Bowtiefanatc I like 25" scale, and I do not really appreciate long scales. @vchizzle I already tried to tweak PU height and pole height, it helps, but I didn't found this full rich and well balance sound that the Dragon 1 delivers in standard E tuning. I also tried to build a dedicated preset...

D standard / drop C vs string gauge

I recently play my CE22 in std D or drop C. I first played with 10-46, it sounded good but the tension was very low, especially in drop C. So I switched to 11-49. The tension is back to normal but I am less happy with the way the CE sounds. The bass are way too present. I optimized my sound by...
