I think you make a point, in the context where JM has come from i.e., Fender. But... the SS from its inception was introduced in its flagship Tungsten colour (still is advertised as such on its dedicated page). Both Paul & John have made pronouncements about taking the classic S-style design and...
Yeah, I noticed that yesterday when I was reviewing the Silver Sky page; the URL has also changed from https://prsguitars.com/electrics/model/silver_sky_2019 to https://www.prsguitars.com/index.php/electrics/model/silver_sky_2020 which is also the default linked page from the Silver Sky logo on...
I think you may be referring to this video. It's fairly old (2012) where Paul offers a clear explanation on why they utilize the hardest variant of the nickel wire available. Mind you, that is not the video where justification of choosing the nickel over the stainless steel wire is served...
Wow, that must definitely be an unpleasant surprise. I would not think that the gauge and the make of the strings have anything to do with the accelerated wear. Are you experiencing any noticeable symptoms, say like grooves in the frets, or fret buzzing?
Last year when the SS was originally introduced, I skimmed over the fact and never payed much attention to the axe... until I heard Paul play the SS during one press events after the guitar had been announced. The tone of the pickups was what won me over. I will argue that the 635JMs are...
It’s a really nice colour (in fact, they all are are - PRS have utilized a beautiful palette with this model). While it boils down to individual perception, I definitely agree - the Moc Sand SS looks very stylish.

Thanks, mate! Yeah, I'm on particularly good terms with one of L&M stores in Calgary (it's also my favourite one - very approachable staff & management). We'll see what happens, for sure!
I will certainly consider it when the opportunity presents itself; at this point in the process, I am merely weighing my options. I'd like to think that - at this price point - I could have a say over the colour, but by no means do I intend to fret about it, oh no :)
Side note, the colour...
Thank you, @dmatthews! Actually, I live in BC, but in the (almost forgotten) eastern perimeter of it - the East Kootenays. I wouldn't necessarily have to try one out before buying; I will need - however - to sell one of my axes that I have fallen out of love with, so to speak, before I proceed...
Hi Gang,
I’d like to say hi to each & everyone of you as this is my first post on this wonderful forum. In addition, I also have a confession to make - I’m totally GASing for a Silver Sky. Recently, I’ve spent quite some time watching & listening to multitude of reviews and I’m in awe; this is...
