I have been thinking about getting a Hot Mod V2 for my HDRX20 to pump up the gain. According to their site, the reverse wired version works in the amp.

I have an HDRX20. I would say the modifications done to the original Hendrix amp that this amp is based on make the amp softer, leaning more towards a JTM45 than a plexi. Not really a brown sound/VH amp to me.

I pretty much expect that a Plexi type amp needs to have some volume to sound good. I haven’t come across one that doesn’t sound thin and fizzy when played quietly. Gotta get the master at least above 2.5 or nothing but thin, weedy tones.
HDRX amps are not bedroom amps in the slightest.

I redid measurements with the decibel meter I forgot I had at 1m. In dBA weighted mode.
All controls set at noon was measured from 110 dB. Fairly clean tone overall. I didn’t touch the eq knobs, just volumes.
