If they removed it then my guess is that they're making room for an upcoming P594 or SC P594; either of those would probably move to the top of my list. :)

SEs Custom 24 necks aren't bolt-on, but they are maple. The pickups could make a big difference though!

I could be wrong, but being so newly reintroduced I wouldn't expect big changes to the CEs this year. Maybe the addition of a 22 fret version if they're selling well?

If you're putting on any logo, changing it costs almost nothing. A better nut could cost a lot over a production run. It would have been nice though...

You could also try wearing a glove, or better a partial glove, just to keep your hand out of direct contact with the strings on the bridge and see if that helps.

If money is not an issue then the Mark IV does have a better focus system and some other real improvements, but if you're not shooting fast moving subjects and you're not doing this as a pro who sees and notices every tiny difference then now may be a good time to pick up a used or discounted...

What you're looking at should be good; if I was looking for a camera primarily for stills in the sub-$5k range there's a good chance I'd get a 5D Mk III or IV, although there are some other very good options out or coming soon from Sony, Fuji, Nikon, etc. I'm not thrilled with how Canon is...

I haven't tried a 2017 yet, but I do like the look of the new logo and the new pickups do interest me. :)

They're supposed to be a copy of the neck from "The Beast" (his vintage '59 LP).

I believe the main differences will be the pickups and the logo on the headstock. If you like those on the 2016, you can save yourself some money. I agree though, if you can you should probably try both just to be sure you get what you like best.

The tuners really aren't bad, but if you want locking tuners John Mann does modify SE tuners to lock, or of course there are other brands that fit. :)

Is it anything like the Bernie Marsden neck? If so, you could probably get that on a PS if you ever spec one.
