Me again. Can't find a direct answer on the web. But I'm tracing the wires and looking at a Seymour Duncan wiring diagram and I may have stumbled upon the culprit.
If I'm understanding the spaghetti in the cavity, it looks like both coil splits are deactivating the slug coil and leaving the...
if I run my S2 Semi Hollow Singlecut with both humbuckers split, I still get singlecoil hum. But Fender Strats and Musicman guitars cancel hum when two single coils are activated together.
Is there an easy way to re-wire the S2 so the two split humbuckers work together to cancel him? I think...
I second the Thornbucker recommendation.
I know the OP is putting the project on hold. But since the thread got bumped back into action...
I have the same S2 Singlecut Semi Hollow. With the stock #7 pickups, I had always felt like my tone knob was rolled back. I'd go to turn it up only to find...
I have an SC250 with the stock SC250 pickups. When I bought it in 2008, I was going for heavy driving rock sounds. And those SC250s were my favorite pickups. But they are very hot and don't always get along with other gear down stream. They're very good at pushed Marshall sounds. But my fuzz...
Veering a little off the original question but...
I have to admit, as beautiful as PRS is, there's something about that classic clunky Les Paul look that grabs my heart the way a 1967 Ford Mustang does. Fender Strats, not so much.
That said, I can't quite get myself to buy one of those...
When you said, in your original post, that you tried the S2 in the Les Paul case, did you mean you put it in the SKB Les Paul case or a Gibson Les Paul case?
Also, I have the SKB case that is smaller and shaped like the guitar and not the bigger rectangular case like in CoreyT's photo above...
I use the SKB designed for Les Pauls with my S2 Singlecut SemiHollow. Haven't noticed this shape mismatch for over a year until I read your post. But I checked and you're right. It's very minute. But the guitar slightly 'see-saws' on its heel. Either the headstock or foot end of the body is...
I wish PRS would supply proper demonstrations of their various pickups on their web site like Seymour Duncan does.
I have an SC250 Core that could maybe benefit from a pickup swap. The stock pickups were absolutely perfect for what I was doing in 2008 when I got it. But, as my tastes change, I...
This YouTube video demonstrates the difference between hollow, semi-hollow, and solid models. He seems to be using just the camera mic at a distance and too much reverb on the amp. So you have to listen closely through the poor audio quality to distinguish the subtle differences. But I can hear...
Can't really help but I had a 2008 513, too, and it was noiser than regular humbucker guitars. So you're not alone. The noise is one of the reasons I returned it.
There was also something peculiar about the feel of the plugged-in sound. Can't remember it well enough to describe accurately now...
I've been playing the heck out of my S2 since I bought it almost a year ago and nothing has failed. Mine has the USA fixed bridge--not the SE floating bridge. So many can't speak for that. But I slap the pickup selector often several times per song; play the volume knobs constantly for fuzz...
Yep. .011 on my Core SC250 and S2 Singlecut Semi Hollow.
I had .011 on my Gretsch Brian Setzer but that guitar sounds better with .010s, believe it or not. It doesn't sound 'heavy' with thicker strings, it just sounds dull. The thinner strings twang better on that one.
But the PRS guitars...
I could get into a bolt-on PRS. But I personally wouldn't buy another dual humbucker in a bolt-on guitar. We already have the Custom2x market covered in different price ranges. I'd only be interested if they offered more interesting pickup configurations. Maybe something more like a 513 or...
