    PRS SE Silver Sky

The bolt on necks are custom fit for each guitar. Swapping them may require reducing neck width and thickness on one and shimming the other to swap them. Neck angle to bridge height and string height may also require sorting out. Errors made during this process may make one or both guitars...

    The "Official Silver Sky" Thread

The portion of spring inserted in the block is kinked (bent) before insertion to secure it in place. The spring can be successfully removed with pliers by rotating the spring back and forth in the block while pulling away from the block. Reinstalling a spring requires quite a bit of force to...

Anyone move on from their SE SAS??

I have an SE SAS and swapped to locking PRS tuners, a Mann brass bridge, core 85/15 TCI pickups, new Bourns volume and tone pots, the tone with a Push-Push, and a 6-position Freeway switch. The Freeway switch splits both humbuckers, the push-push adds the middle pickup to any position. I also...

    PRS Swamp Ash Special SE

Yes, the bridge on the SE SAS floats from the factory. Simple fix: put something under the back of the bridge until it is parallel with the body. I have used guitar picks, business cards, playing cards etc. Next tune the guitar up to pitch. Last step is to slowly loosen the screws on the...

Drop D tuning issues on tremolo model

I blocked the trem with a piece of wood in 2 PRS guitars to prevent this problem with drop D. I can push the trem down but not pull up. I don’t use the trem most of the time anyway. Clapton wedges his strats similarly so I’ve read.

Looking for different Volume Pots on McCarty 594

I replaced volume and tone on my SE SAS. I went with Bourns because I wanted a Push-Push tone pot. The SE tone pot had a lousy audio taper which took most of the rotation to lower the tone. The Bourns are audio taper too and work like core PRS pots.

Fret sprout on SE SAS yet?? Anyone...

The frets are sized to the neck at the time of assembly. The width of the neck is dependent on the moisture content of the wood and the humidity level. Wood expands noticeably across the grain as moisture increases, and shrinks as wood dries. Expansion in line with the grain is very minimal...

    Favorite PRS guitar?

Yes, Paul’s Guitar PS. I was fortunate enough to find it at a great price, used but unplayed. 2016 was the 20th anniversary of Private Stock. To commemorate the event, the PS team created a new guitar design for each month in the year with production of very limited quantities of each model...

    Silver Sky tremolo arm replacement

The Trem Arm on my 2020 core SS is 4.72 mm, 0.186 inches, 3/16 inches in diameter. The length is a little under 6.5 inches. The arm is bent at the elbow about 86 degrees.

    New PRS cases!

I wonder if D1 vs D2 specifies depth for thicker bodied guitars?

Fret sprout on SE SAS yet?? Anyone...

I just checked frets on my SE SAS which I grabbed when the sale was announced, and they are fine. They were fine upon delivery, but over the first week or so in my bedroom they started to feel a tad sharp. My new heat pump / AC system doesn’t have a humidifier and humidity was in the low 30s...
