57/08 pickups now for sale from PRS Guitars

I need a set of those 58/15s for my SC245. I love the 57/08s, but the 58/15s look like the exact eq I want/need. Hopefully Paul will start selling them aftermarket.

    58/15 and 85/15 Pickups

Indeed. I had a much more thorough post typed up talking about other things like dcr and various pickup details, but deleted most of it. I figured some people might take it as being too critical, though it was not my intention. intarwebz, ya know? :)

    58/15 and 85/15 Pickups

My 2 cents.. "Alnico" is not terribly helpful, IMO as a descriptor in this day and age. Especially if people are buying pickups aftermarket. Some of these pickups of course are not for sale aftermarket, but I don't see why, for example, 59/09s do not have specifics for the magnet type listed...

Checked out the Duncans in my used SE Singlecut

Thats a 498T/490R set. Very common set. 500Ts are 15+

yep. Meter them. You likely have some combo of the following because of the baseplates. Hard to tell in the pic for me cause some things look like they have been un/soldered but looks like covers may not be original and/or gibson covers. That said 490R high 7Ks to around 8K 490T low 8s 498T...

    SC58 v. SC245

I have a 2014 SC245, it has neck binding and 57/08s. Most of the SC58s I have seen have been much "prettier". More uniform tops and typical PRS flame. Most of the sc245s (post sc58) seem to have softer/subtler/more vintage ( you know what years and guitar model) flame tops to them.

    57/08s are now available aftermarket...

DCR is not the be-all end-all of output. I have put my Gibson 59 tribute pickups (a2, measured 7.5k drc) in my SC245 and they sound much hotter than the 57/08tm How the coils are wound, wire to insulation ratio, and magnet strength (not just formula) are key. I'm not surprised that 57/08s are...

    Which pickups for SC594??

Well for what it's worth, I play mainly 70s hard rock...Rush, UFO, Thin Lizzy, Zep, etc. All of the players in the bands I mentioned above played really low output pickups. T TOPs for Schenker's V, T tops in Lifeson's '68 335 (and either that or tarbacks in the 355) and T top for Page (in the...

    Which pickups for SC594??

I would stick with the stock pickups. Test them thoroughly. Address the individual guitar and then if need be , look at all the aftermarket options. They are many excellent winders out there who know exactly what they are doing and will wind you exactly what you want..

    Speed Knobs

Indeed. Taller rings on the bridge pickup would look alot better, IMO.

    Speed Knobs

Thanks for the kind words folks. This is probably a better shot of the top and the color- albeit with the original knobs..which for me stand out in a bad way..just too dark.

I put some Gibson brand from one of my Les Pauls on my SC245. No issues.

2014 SC245- current Starla I bought 5+ years ago (sold) SC250 I bought 7 or 8 years ago (Sold)- after I modded it with new knobs and a Dragon II/McCarty neck (or possibly a Duncan Custom5/59- which I ripped out within days and put in the D2/McNeck) SC250- original config

As Classic as it Gets! Introducing the Livingston Lemondrop SC245

Yep. Killer axe. Ive been a Gibson guy most of my life and always felt if Paul could tweak his original singlecuts a bit, it would convert me. Ive had several USA PRSI since 1987. The new bridge, tp, and pickups really take it where I wanted. Also much prefer the v12 finish, and I had alot of...
