    2013 se custom 24 problem

Hi all, Recently my SE custom 24 has developed an ice pick sound. By that I mean the sound of the pick striking the strings is really sharp, staccato like and the notes don't have a nice initial tone and ringing quality. This happens in all the blade switch positions and with the push/pull up...

I'm really glad to see the activity even though I mentioned I already pulled the trigger. This is a great site. Must be because of the great guitars and owners.

Hi, Paul Allender SE or Customer 24 SE?

As I posted previously, I have a 2008 Allender with passives pups. I just finished the final adjustments on a bone nut. I installed a Mannmade NOS2000 Bridge about 2 months ago. I also just finished a real good setup. The guitar sounds great and I couldn't be happier with it. In earlier posts I...

    tuning devices

I just ordered a Peterson StroboPLUS HD. Reviews were great, it's capabilities are great and Sweetwater ships free and gives a 2 year warranty. Some other sellers only give a one year warranty.

I'm considering getting a strobe type chromatic tuner instead of a six tone guitar tuner. I have a 32 string zither and other instruments with more than six tones. What brands are considered good quality chromatic tuners with a good life span? I bought a Behringer and it is pretty bad. I thought...

    swamp ash electronics

I'm sure its clear I'm pretty stupid when it comes to electric guitars. I always thought the treble pup was nearest to the neck and the bass pup was nearest to the bridge. I also have to agree that the description on the PRS site was ambiguous. I'm trying to learn and must thank you again your...

    swamp ash electronics

Thanks again. So if I understand, the terminology, could also be written as follows? Position 1: Full treble humbucker and middle pickup Position 2: Bass single coil, middle pickup and full treble humbucker Position 3: Bass single coil and middle pickup

    swamp ash electronics

Thanks for the info. The up position description is a little confusing to me in that neck and treble are in the description. I thought neck and treble were synonymous. The down position makes sense in the use of treble and bass. Should UP position 2 read neck single coil, middle pickup and bass...

    swamp ash electronics

I'm considering getting a swamp ash special and have a question about the electronics. Most of the ones I've seen have three pups, a three way toggle, a volume knob and a push/pull tone control which allows coil splitting. What I don't understand is how the three pups are controlled. My Se...

PRS SE Custom 24 truss rod question

I do not understand righty tighty lefty loosey. I want to increase bow to make the strings higher above the 8th fret. Looking from the head stock down the neck, towards the body, which direction should the double action truss rod be turned? Thanks, henryr

PRS original locking tuners & parts

I think you are right. The string is only secured at one point when the post is first tuned and the string first winds over itself. However, I think that by pulling the string over and down against the string going into the post hole and also against post helps ensure a good entrapment.

PRS original locking tuners & parts

I secure strings using what I think is a pretty standard method which most of you are probably familiar with. I think it is shown on the Martin site and on youtube. One starts by running a string through the post hole leaving about 11/2” slack behind the post. Next the string is run half way...

PRS original locking tuners & parts

I have several acoustics with Waverlys on a 2004 Santa Cruz, 1968 Grovers on a Gibson, no names on a 1975 Guild and two PRS SEs with non-locking tuners. They all seem to stay in the position I left them in, when I tuned the guitars, after repeated playing. How do locking tuners improve...
