Thanks for the update. I too have a new POT coming. Did your POT come with the resistor already attached? They tweak the resistance to be 275k ohm. Hence my bet is each POT have differing resistors to take into account the POT tolerance.

OH - I saw you posted this: it was a bad pickup. Open coil so somewhere in the winds it was broken. I was told that one of two things happens when the coil wire is broken/open. 1. You get what happened to our guitars 2. No sound So it sounded like number 1 was similar to what I described! :-)...
