Got to spend some time playing it yesterday. Compared to the stripped 58 it is definitely heavier in weight. Sound wise I would say it has more clarity. But the stripped 58 seems to have more mids. I like em both. They each kinda do their own thing. The 594 seems to respond more to the dynamics...
Safely arrived. :) Please forgive the pic quality. Poor lighting and since I'm fighting a tooth ache just really not into trying to fix it.:( It is really a bit darker than the pic is showing. Cheers guys!
Main difference for me is fit and finish. IMHO PRS has its own sound so don't buy one hoping it will sound like a LP Standard.
I own 2 Gibson Les Paul Standards. One from 2006, needed fret job right out the box, took years for the Nitro to harden up and for some lame reason they used 300k pots...
I decided to get myself an early 50th birthday present. McCarty 594 SC in grey black. Unfortunately it won't be here until Wednesday. :( I will post pics when it arrives. So far I own 2 cores (stripped 58 and 30th Anniversary 24), 1 S2 Vela, and 2 SE's. Is that bad? Do I have a problem? I think...
I usually just wait a couple of hours. IMHO I think guitars with Nitro finishes are more susceptible to extreme changes than poly finishes. However I really don't know. Have never experienced it with any of my guitars, nitro or otherwise but I have seen pictures and it can be ugly. :o
