    Trying Hard to Like the HDRX20

    I find my PRS HDRX-20 takes pedals well imo. I base that on using pedals in front on both a Marshall 1959SLP and 1987x. Comparing pedals up front vs in a loop is apples and oranges. I am using a cheap Caline Pure-Sky OD, followed by a 70's DS-1 for everything from mild to wild OD & Distortion...

    New Celestion speakers with a "laid back" feel!

    Does anyone know if they use Sativa or Indica hemp? Is the glue they use non-toxic in case someone tries smoking the cone? {Asking for a friend}

    HDRX-20 Could use some BIAS advice and thoughts on this.

    Great point. That said, 5881's from different manufacturers have different recommended bias specs which are also dependent on an amps design {such as varying tube plate voltages, power transformer limits, etc.} The problem is the manual calls for 29ma yet it was set to 27.5ma from the factory...

    Thanks again. PRS recommended 25-30ma. I've found the 27.5ma setting worked for me the best just as the it was set for the original [and very well matched] Tung-Sols. The Sovteks do seem a bit stiffer as I expected. Your input was spot on.

    Happy to report PRS replied. They recommended a 25-30ma bias for the tubes in question. I've personally found that a 27.5ma bias suits my needs. The same as the bias that was set at the factory for the original [very well matched] Tung-Sol tube set.

    BTW: I contacted PRS via their support portal. They will e-mail me. Asked for any bias input recommendation/tube compatibility or power transformer voltage issues. The power tranny looks just as beefy as my 50watt tube midget was but that doesn't mean much. The Sovtek's can handle more plate...

    Thank you. Did the EL-34's add any headroom on the MT-15 compared to the stock tubes?

    MT15 5881 Can I swap in 6L6GC's?

    Good rule is to bias anytime you replace power tubes. General rule is you can use a 6L6 in place of a 5881 but not always the other way round. A true 5881 {like the Tung-Sol used in the HDRX-20 dissipates a max of about 23watts while a 6L6 dissipates at least a max of 25watts. A 6L6GC dissipates...

    HDRX-20 Could use some BIAS advice and thoughts on this.

    Recently purchased the HDRX-20. It came with matched Tung-Sol 5881's. They were factory set to 27.5ma bias. The tubes were well matched to 1/2 of one ma. apart. They sounded better to me at 27.5ma although I did try the recommended 29ma which distorted better. I would like to try out a matched...
