    2017 Custom 24 - 85/15 Pickup Challenges

No problem, happy to help. I should add that I'm a few months in beyond that initial review and I'm keeping the neck pickup, it's just too good. Also, what swayed me to make the initial buy was this response I got from Tim (founder of BKP) when I asked him what he thought should go in a CU24...

    2017 Custom 24 - 85/15 Pickup Challenges

I was experiencing the same thing with the 85/15s. I swapped them for a set of BKP Abraxas. Absolutely love them; though I will admit that they bring the guitar a little more into LP territory than I had anticipated. Overall, I am really digging them. Did a review here...

Thanks, that's a helpful link indeed. "Squabbins" - I knew there had to be a word for it!

Don't know yet, still looking to find out. Will let you know. To be clear, I'm looking for an answer in connection with an uncovered pickup - specifically referencing the current gen square plastic bobbin shapes on newer PRS pickups - such as 85/15s, and not a "traditional" Gibson style nickel...

FWIW, the guys over at Bare Knuckle Pickups seem to generally recommend using an F-Spaced bridge humbucker (aka Trembucker) when replacing stock pickups on a trem equipped Custom 24. On the same topic, if someone were to replace their bridge pickup (85/15) on a Custom 24, does anyone know if an...

    New Faded Evergreen CU24 Artist

Sounds promising. I did check out the CE24 neck and was pretty impressed with the finish. I would also be really interest in hearing from someone who's had the opportunity to A/B a Maple vs RW / Hog neck CU24. I believe you also went with the ebony board - lots of bright on that neck! In...

    New Faded Evergreen CU24 Artist

Beautiful, absolutely love the color. Didn't know "faded evergreen" was an option but that is now top of the list for future buys... How's the maple neck working out? I'm guessing it's a satin finish similar to the CE24?

    NGD: Prize doubled by upgrades

Had never heard of that model. Nice job on the upgrades!

Thanks, I think the Pledge is the PRS Rosewood equivalent to "new car smell". I will miss it when it's gone! Surely everyone should have at least one blue PRS. IMHO "Blue Matteo" is their equivalent of Ferrari Red / Racing Green... that's the color I've had in mind for as long as I can remember!

Custom 24 made it here at last, courtesy of John Mann's Guitar Vault. Custom ordered Artist series with rosewood neck with ebony board - blue matteo finish - 85/15s. Pretty spectacular. As always, the pictures don't do it justice. Plays beautifully and sounds incredible. The only downside...

    Late NGD Experience 2016

I have a CU24 artist on order - also from John Mann - and trust me: my wife knows absolutely nothing about it! And I intend it to remain that way until it shows up on my guitar rack, hopefully unnoticed!

Your wife made you buy a guitar??!! How does that work? Is there some kind of course / workshop I can send mine to? Love the satin finish btw!

    How many is enoughj?

I don't worry about having too many. My problem is that I have a few which I know I would be better off without but still can't get rid of them by virtue of being a sentimental idiot. It's fine having any number of good guitars, so long as you are able to ditch the chaff along the way.

    Rosewood neck finishing process

Hi Guys, Joined the forum not too long ago. I have a CuRo 24 on order which I’m hoping to receive in the not too distant future. In the meantime, I was wondering about the finishing process for PRS rosewood necks (neck back, not the fret board!). Specifically, is the neck wood completely raw...
