I read quite a bit into this. Not in the context of guitars but in the context of chess boards and pieces. What I found out (I ended up on furniture woodwork forums and stuff like that) is that almost every type of wood darkens over time when being exposed to light. The one exception is walnut...
Pretty convincing video. It 'sounds' like when all things equal (pickup height, scale length, strings) at least the wood type of the body should almost make no difference at all.
Still the SE Standard 24 sounds different/darker than the SE custom 24 from what I've heard. Only difference is the...
It's an ordinary PRS SE Custom 24 black gold burst 2021. I can make some pictures tomorrow with better light.
The 'stripe' is only on the high e-side, only like 2/3 of the neck. Not everywhere the same brightness.
Saw this the first restring I did on my new PRS SE custom 24. First thing I thought was 'oh no damage...' But if I feel the fretboard with my fingers it doesn't feel like damage and the angle also feels normal. The color can give a kind of optical illusion of having a slightly different angle...
I just got my first PRS SE Custom 24 2021 model. I'm still dialing in the sound. I read a lot about how sensitive to height these pickups are on this forum, but can't find people sharing their measurements.
One thing I noticed is that the neck and the middle position sound VERY similar. The...
Let's say I want to set my action according to factory specs. I perfectly get how to measure and adjust the action for the low e-string and the high e-string. But what about the other strings?
Should the A and D string match the low E string action and the G and B the high E string? Or should...
In this video from PRS they recommend giving the strings some 'slack' and wrap around once. I always thought the point of locking tuners was to NOT wrap around. Nobody does wrap around as far as I know. Why does PRS recommend this? Better tone?
Makes a lot of sense, thank you! That new SE Standard 24-08 looks gorgeous though...Looks much nicer than the 'cheap' finishes from the SE Custom imo. I wish they sent some of them to Youtube reviewers like the Silversky SE for reviewing. But I think I'm going to regret not going for a maple...
Website says that the current SE Custom 24-08 has 85/15s pickups. In 2021 they had TCI-s pickups.
The new SE standard 24-08 has TCI-s pickups and is 300 dollars cheaper. Is a maple cap that cost intensive?
Seems weird they change specs all the time or do they just make mess of the specs on...
They have a thin vineer of maple AND a maple top that is thicker. So I do think it is going to have influence on sound. They both have a maple neck though.
Kind of wondering about the same thing. Especially now the standard 24-08 is out. Somehow without the veneer it even looks more premium to me.
Only thing that is holding me back is that I also want to have nice clean single coil sounds. You don't see single coils on all mahogany very often so...
