As you can see nothing on the low e-side and not the entire neck of the high e-side.

It's an ordinary PRS SE Custom 24 black gold burst 2021. I can make some pictures tomorrow with better light. The 'stripe' is only on the high e-side, only like 2/3 of the neck. Not everywhere the same brightness.

In this video from PRS they recommend giving the strings some 'slack' and wrap around once. I always thought the point of locking tuners was to NOT wrap around. Nobody does wrap around as far as I know. Why does PRS recommend this? Better tone?

Website says that the current SE Custom 24-08 has 85/15s pickups. In 2021 they had TCI-s pickups. The new SE standard 24-08 has TCI-s pickups and is 300 dollars cheaper. Is a maple cap that cost intensive? Seems weird they change specs all the time or do they just make mess of the specs on...

They have a thin vineer of maple AND a maple top that is thicker. So I do think it is going to have influence on sound. They both have a maple neck though.

Kind of wondering about the same thing. Especially now the standard 24-08 is out. Somehow without the veneer it even looks more premium to me. Only thing that is holding me back is that I also want to have nice clean single coil sounds. You don't see single coils on all mahogany very often so...
