    NGD: Core Steve Fischer Angelus

Congrats! I have a 2009 Angelus cutaway with the exact same wood recipe. I love it to death, I actually traded it off in a deal for a Brazilian RW guitar but missed it sooo much I bought it back.

    Thoughts on PRS Hollowbody II?

I don’t think prices are discussed on this forum please contact your PRS dealer, I picked up mine used and traded a West Street Limited for it.

Wood used in 2009 Tonare Grand

That looks like flamed mahogany to me. My 2009 Angelus Standard is the same wood for back and sides.

    Older Singlecuts/250's/245's/SC58's/Ted's: Trash or Treasure?

Yeah, I just never played the West Street. I was too afraid of scratching or dinging her plus she was pretty heavy, but I play Lake (my SCHBII) every day. so I may have taken a hit value wise in the trade but I now have a guitar that I look forward to (and I actually dream about) playing.

    Opeth

I was introduced to PRS by watching Carlos Santana and Tim Mahoney back when I was starting on guitar in the mid 90s, then after buying my first PRS in 2008 I discovered Opeth and Porcupine tree on "a" PRS forum. Opeth has become my number one fave over the past three albums, Mikael is a...

    Older Singlecuts/250's/245's/SC58's/Ted's: Trash or Treasure?

My first PRS was a 2002 SC with the #7s that I bought in Alaska when hunting for a Les Paul, she was named Smokey. After a few years playing her stock I removed the pickup covers and added a coil split (required some surgery) to each pickup using push pull tone pots. I ended up selling her a few...

    Paul's weekly "Guitar Talk"

Dang but this guitar turned out stunning! Thank you Shawn, this thread has been a blast for us lurkers, and an excellent education for anyone interested in Paul Reed Smith's build process.

Black gold burst is my favorite PRS core color, though I've not yet landed one. I almost got a 408 10 top in Black Gold burst but ended up with my 408 Standard cause it's tone blew every other 408 in the store off the wall. That color makes the flames look extra holographic like a Tiger's eye...

McCarty 594 vs 408 for versatility

I have a 408 standard with a pattern thin neck that I've had for about three years now and this winter I added a 594 to the stable. They are two completely different creatures! If it is at all possible get both. Otherwise it depends on what you play. If your into modern tones and a shredder feel...

    Only one feature from 594

Skeeter, I have to go with you on the selector switch. It is so much easier to flip with my thumb while playing fingerstyle or a quick strum up close to the neck if using a pick, no reaching back and trying to keep rhythm. I want to re-locate the switch on my SCHBII to the correct spot now. I...

Chester Bennington of Linkin Park Commits Suicide

Rest In Peace Chester. You where an artist and your voice and lyrics will be missed.

    Gibson Rants

This is why I moved to PRS almost ten years ago. Long story, I had actually wanted a McCarty when they came out in like '95 but all I could afford was a set of Artist pickups in '97 to put in my Gibbs Lester and I played the crap out of that piece for more than 7 years before smashing it in the...

Demo Clip - How The HXDA Responds To Guitar Volume Control

Great tune Mr.Schefman! I can't wait to hear the lyrics! It's inspired me to fire up the Hulk again (the Hulk is my green 100watt HXDA) after letting him sit for a few weeks. I've been messing with my Ashby (it's my 50watt 6L6 based "Clean" amp that usually gets relegated to the "wet" side of my...
