Who can do this finish for me...

Thanks! I didn't want the back color to override the finish on the front on the horn so it was a balancing act; I gave Pat a general idea what I was looking for and let him choose and he nailed it. A slightly toned down Home Depot orange. I knew there was an awesome top under that red and it...

Who can do this finish for me...

I'm sure the PTC would have done a fantastic job, however I had Pat Wilkins do the work. Here are the results: 3D Flamey Top shots that you can see more easily while I was reassembling...

What's the oldest model year guitar you currently own? Oldest PRS?

    1955 Gretsch Round-Up (refin) and a '93 CE24 PRS.

Who can do this finish for me...

So "11 Top" might be a bit of an exaggeration, so sue me! ;) Ah the days when I had a good camera and at least access to decent lighting, nowadays it's a Point and Shoot camera and flametops are hard to shoot to begin with. The guitar in question is the one on the right, I don't have a single...

Who can do this finish for me...

I have a '93 CE24 that I would like to refinish. It's top finish has received some battle scars in it's 25 years of life and I'm going to do a refresh. It's essentially an "11" Top, amazing flames and it deserves to be seen in all it's glory. So who can do this finish for me? The 10th...

Recommend me a nickel cover for my HFS/Vintage pickups...

Crappy photos of the guitar and top, but good shots of the pickup covers aged and installed. These were the Philly Luthier all nickel covers, a little work, a little acid fume exposure and some setup later and there you go. I can tell no different in tone but I "see" a huge improvement in looks...

Recommend me a nickel cover for my HFS/Vintage pickups...

Well it will "color" the sound somewhat, we'll see just how much. But the black/black on this top don't look great and I thought I'd try nickel covers first and if I have to go to Zebra's later if I'm not happy with the results (I'm a Wolfetone guy, A2 low to mid wind). Thanks!

Recommend me a nickel cover for my HFS/Vintage pickups...

PRS Gurus, My CE24 needs a set of nickel covers, yes it's purely looks but help a brother out! I believe the spacing on the poles is 49.2 mm on these pickups, so what all nickel covers have you all used with success? I see 48, 50 and 52 mm spacing advertised... And yes, all nickel and not...

New or old - CE 24...

Garrett, thanks for the quick reply. So what covers are you guys using then? Go for 50's and they're close enough? Thanks!

New or old - CE 24...

Blackface-headstock CE24 on it's way, thanks for all the advice and pics to post upon arrival. Does anyone know the pickup pole spacing on the HFS/Vintage pickups? 48, 50 or 52 mm? I think I'm going to order a set of nickel covers for the time being and maybe Zebra the setup later BUT we'll see...

New or old - CE 24...

I think that satin neck looks great JimmyDee, thanks for sharing. So question, what would the top wood be on a mahogany back but painted top CE? Is it still maple under there just not a AA/AAA flame top or is it solid mahogany? Just curious... I'm looking for a flame top but if another option...

New or old - CE 24...

cshallcross, is that a Tort top or black cherry? Whatever it is it's amazing, nice guitar. Markd21; I'm totally with you on the "rig" being untouched while the guitar colors tone. Thanks for the write up and it sounds like you need to give this all a try again, because ya know, why not?!? ;)...

New or old - CE 24...

Explain the "hate" if you don't mind. I'm not judging, just curious about your impressions. Were they too hot for your tastes, not hot enough, sterile, no EQ depth or? Being a pickup whore I suspect I'd swap out whatever I got eventually anyway, but reasonable enough for the time being also...

New or old - CE 24...

Moons are more better than the plastic birds, MOP birds would have been alright though I know they wanted to save a few bucks. Good points all the way around, I didn't know about the Korean Trem units...

New or old - CE 24...

Ok, I've been looking for a while at CE 24s a guitar that just "fits" me, has the right EQ balance, etc. The neck is perfect for my little 11 year old girl sized hands and I've found over time that bolt-on's tend to be more my thing (which surprised me I might add). So, poking around there are...
