I tried a silver sky when they first came out but didn't love the vintage frets. My fingers hurt playing it due to rubbing the fretboard too much (I think).
I'm interested in the model and have been reading conflicting specs about the current fret size. Some places list it as 55x090 but...
Thanks, just the neck shape. The 7 1/4" radius suits me great and matches several of my strats. I'm just concerned the neck has a little too much shoulder on it for me.
Shorter scale is actually worse. It’s about the amount of shoulder on the neck. I haven’t touched my old tele in years due to the massive boat tail neck.
I have several strats that all suit me. The modern c is great, I like the Suhr slim even c, the Anderson even taper is great. I want to...
I have pretty bad arthritis. Over the last few years I’ve reconfigured all of my guitars to have a similar neck profile to minimize any issues. Switching really aggravates my hand and wrist.
I've read that there are a few variations of the SIlver Sky neck profile but I cannot figure out what they are.
Which model/year/color? should I be looking at if I want the smallest shoulder possible? I've looked up the depth at a few sites, but that doesn't represent the profile well...
I've been a long-time strat player and have decided to get the Vela as my first PRS. It seems like the body shape, contours, and bridge profile should translate nicely to being a comfy guitar and an easy switch back and forth. I love the light weight - it's surprisingly light.
I'm torn...
I'm convinced. Vela will be the next purchase. I need to find a few dealers that measure the neck and try to get the smallest I can find, since it's on the edge for me. I know Wildwood measures and I'll dig around for a few more.
Definitely excited.
Thanks - the Vela seems like the perfect gateway from the strat world to PRS for me. I'm a little worried about the pattern regular neck and how much shoulder it will have. I'm not a fan of the Gibson necks with a lot of shoulder, it really irritates my wrist. I've played the pattern thin on a...
I’m thinking about trying a satin Vela. I’m mostly a strat player but I love the pickup combination and the weight, or lack thereof, is incredible.
Is the satin finish just an aesthetic or does it feel much smoother/faster on the hand? I’ve only tried gloss finished S2 models and the necks...
I've been looking for a lightweight guitar to use around the house. Something that won't break my back :-)
The Vela has caught my eye and the weights are surprisingly light. I'm wondering if any of them have neck dive? That drives me nuts and after a lightweight SG I've been pretty gunshy...
I appreciate that unlike the SG, the thinline seems to sit in a more natural position when playing sitting down. For me, SG's always sit off to the left more than anything else I play and feel awkward.
