I have three SE's, a Custom 24, a 245 and a Silver Sky and all look, sound and play great. I'm a beginner but I've spent enough time at GC to have handled some not-as-nice guitars in a similar price range.

I'm glad to hear the S2 McCarty 594 has a similar neck!! The local stores only have a handful of PRS's to try and none have been a 594. I've handled some S2's, but not that model. There's a good chance I'll pick up an S2 in the future. I love the SE 245, but I also find the Made in the U.S.A...

I love my SE 245 Standard and already had a set of SE locking tuners when I bought it. I viewed the tuners as something to simply make string changes easier, but then realized they have brass posts, while the stock tuners don't. Maybe that's a slight upgrade to tone? Hope so. Now I can't...

I plan to upgrade the pickups in my 245 and I'm thinking of going with the Seth Lovers. The set on Sweetwater come with black rings, which is my preference. I had planned to buy rings from PRS, but does anyone know if the rings that come with the Seth Lovers would work?

I love the sound of the SE 245 "S" pickups but not the thick necks that all of the SE's with 245's have. I was able to handle an SE Custom 22 Semi-Hollow and love the feel of the body and especially the thin neck. The light weight was nice, but not a critical factor. I think I'm going to buy...
