Get a used P24 with the piezo adjustable stoptail. They are almost always on ebay. I also agree with those who claim the stoptails sound different than the trems. Different, yes. Better? Thats a subjective opinion based on preference. Both sound great to me. I just never use a whammy bar so I...

I ordered one in 98 when stoptail was still an option. I also got one PS with the Dweezil body. Both of them got widefat neck carves. Even if I recieved a ridiculously generous offer, I doubt that I would part with them. They are like an extention of me. They are the only electric guitars I play.

The Johnny Hiland model has a maple neck which gives the guitar a natural treble spank too. You should watch the pickup shootout. I think CR swaped PRS pickups into the same guitar for a true comparison. It can be found on youtube. Its a labor of love, and a valuable contribition to the PRS world.

I use 9's on my cust24 and PS 24.......old wise saying, " TONE IS IN THE BONE", that is, in the finger bones! No matter what guitar i play, it always ends up sounding like me. My theory is we all have a sound we chase after, and in the end, thats what tries to come out of us.

Wow, what audacious marketing BULLS#!T........PRS stoptail needs no replacement unless you use alternative tunings, where then you would need an adjustable PRS stoptail. Wow, those claims aren't worth dignifying, ESPECIALLY without recorded clips of each to compare. In fact, My mahogany 98...
