HSS has never really been a big thing for PRS, has it?

This perfectly describes what I want. No matter what other options are out there, my idealized guitar is a PRS Core body, a pattern-thin neck, and a HSS pickup configuration. I've never really bonded with neck humbuckers, and even though I've put a Lambertone's Crema in the neck of my CU24, it...

Considering a private stock order, any thoughts on this configuration?

Thanks for the input everyone! As for the one-piece vs book match bit, I just find that the natural flow of quilted maple looks better without the center book-match line.

Considering a private stock order, any thoughts on this configuration?

Hi everyone, I've been playing PRSi for a number of years now and feel like I'm ready to buy one last guitar built to my personal tastes. I'm certainly not a gear-hoarder and aspire to only one high-quality instrument for each type that I play. I have an acoustic that I'm completely happy with...

    Original 513 neck carve spec?

Thanks everyone, So it sounds like the closest neck was the old wide-fat, but that it tapered more at the nut. Looking at this site: https://www.mooreguitars.com/prs-neck-profiles/, the only difference between wide-fat and pattern-thin is that wide-fat is 2/32" deeper in neck depth at the nut...

    Original 513 neck carve spec?

Hi, They defintely changed from 513 neck to pattern regular. I'm open to correction on this but I think when they switched to patern regular they changed the birds to regular birds as well which is a good indicator.

    Original 513 neck carve spec?

Hi everyone, I have my eye on a '07 513 and I'm curious about the dimensions of the neck. I'm struggling to find the right info online and I'm not in a position to try this or any other 513 in advance, so I have to go by the numbers. I currently own a CU24 with a pattern thin neck, and used to...

Can I mod my tone/volume pots to brighten up my 85/15 pickups?

Thanks again everyone. My main amp right now is a 68 Deluxe Reverb RI, and my main overdrive is a Strymon Riverside. I also spend an equal amount of time playing through a helix into good monitors/headphones. It could very easily be just personal preference, but my first impulse when playing...

Can I mod my tone/volume pots to brighten up my 85/15 pickups?

Thanks for all your feedback. I completely understand where you're coming from with the amp EQ. I suppose my philosophy is if I can brighten the tone pot, then I can keep it open for more brightness, or roll it off to get back to where I am now. I pretty much never roll the tone pot off at the...

Can I mod my tone/volume pots to brighten up my 85/15 pickups?

Hi everyone, So I've had my CU24 for about a year now. While I quite like the vocal qualities of it's 85/15 pickups, I always have this compulsion to roll the tone pot up a bit more, even though it's at 10. I guess I'm trying to take it to a hypothetical 11 or 12. I've been playing a strat...

Pattern thin is my perfect neck, am I doomed to never own a 594?

I did like the DGT neck, I honestly couldn't say it was a bad experience at all. In fact it was one of the reasons I originally bought a DGT. It was my first experience with pattern thin that afterward that made me switch. It's not too surprising that 58/15 LTs aren't available first-hand. I...

Pattern thin is my perfect neck, am I doomed to never own a 594?

Thanks guys, yeah It would be pretty risky to buy without playing one. I've played a pattern neck though and found it manageable. Looking at the chart, it's about half way between pattern thin and pattern vintage. I'd be keen enough on a standard McCarty, I've never had a problem with the...

Pattern thin is my perfect neck, am I doomed to never own a 594?

Okay so I've never played a 594. I own a CU24 30th Anniversary with a pattern thin neck and I absolutely how it plays. I used to own a DGT and I really liked it, but once I played the pattern thin CU24 I knew I had to make the switch, and traded the DGT against it. I really like the idea of the...

    DGT or Custom 24

I think I can give you a personal insight since I recently traded in a DGT for a CU24 for purely personal reasons. I owned my DGT for about 18 months, it was my first PRS, and I originally bought it as I was looking for something between a strat and a les paul. I'm a strat player historically...

    NGD -- My First PRS

That's gorgeous!, The orange fade is beautiful and the two natural wood tones on the back really add to the appeal. Have fun!
