Birds are an instant connection to PRS for me also. I have to date, only owned PRS's with birds. I once considered buying a DC3 with moons and my wife said "where are the birds?" To her PRS = birds. Again I like options and for me PRS should have birds but now it would appear we have lost...

In fairness the birds on the S2 are not the same as the core line. They are defiantly less flashy to my eyes. I do own a couple of core models but I personally dislike the violin scoop on the top edge as it cuts into my forearm. Otherwise I would love to see a core Mira & Vela as options...

After some thought, I do believe I am mistaken. I wonder how PRS decides what pickups they will resale and which one they will not?

Let me thank everyone for their comments. I made a long drive to a PRS dealer (is it against the rules to put in a plug for a dealer?) who had all the models of interest to me and came to a couple of conclusions; A. You really couldn't go wrong with any of the three, and B. the PRS 408 pickup...
