I didn’t believe a 59/09 was that much hotter than 57/08. Certainly I wouldn’t try sticking a \m/, JB, or something super hot. But I figure a little more hotter should be ok. The narrow fields are quite loud when played clean. Much louder than 57/08. I even lowered them a hair compared to PRS...
The 2024 vela introduced me to the narrow fields. I was blown away. Loved them as single coils. So spanky and great in the neck position. So I hunted down a 2011 Studio stoptail version. Wow. The best HSS I have ever played for hum free in all positions. 🔥 More versatile than the Pauls or 2024...
it should only stay shiny. The finish isn’t that thin that it should wear. Somebody can correct me but that’s my experience. I notice wear on the hog guitars where grains aren’t filled. That’s part of their beauty to me
To be fair your comparing guitars designed 40 years apart.
One could easily mod an older Strat to fix what you don’t don’t like. But it’s sure easier to buy a new SS instead
Nobody wants a 3 way switch on a strat like the vintage 50’s and 60’s came with. And a tone control is practically deemed...
Reminded me of what I liked about the reclaimed. It sounds different than the older velas. Punchy and spanky. Chimey. Never Ice picky. More versatile. I’m a big fan. The lack of the hum in the neck position is wonderful. I found the old neck pickup picked up hums easier than some of my strats!
I didn’t own a S2 24-08 but I had the SE 24-08. It was fun. But the 2024 S2 upgrade is worth the extra money. Better tuners. Vastly superior pickups. Better electronics.
I think the new s2 line is amazing. Yes, they got a price upgrade, but they can stand toe to toe with same price...
Maybe I’m just blown away by narrowfields. But it’s nice and loud with a beautiful range. Maybe I should check out an NF3 next. It’s blows away a Paul’s TCI pickup if I’m being honest. And I thought I love Paul’s pickup
My 2024 arrived. It is all of 8 days old from the factory.
When I say this things is amazing I do not joke. The bass pickup is so dynamic. It has more musical highs. It is not as dark and wooly like the previous pickup, but absolutely nails single coil tones and sounds beautiful in the middle.
I...
I’m curious to see why they swapped the bridge from aluminum to steel. When did this happen? 2023?
And what difference does it make? I’ve only played aluminum bridges on the vela and they sang for days.
Is steel cheaper? Certainly it will be heavier which may not be a bad thing since the vela...
