Are the birds consistant in shape and quality on all PRS models?

So just to confirm, This is abalone? It must be some abalone that doesn't have any very dark spots, right?

Are the birds consistant in shape and quality on all PRS models?

You are right, To me the birds on that 93 standard neck (early 90's) look more like the light colored, washed out mother of pearl, and I looked up later guitars from the mid 90s to late 90's and they look like Abalone. Thank you for the help.

Are the birds consistant in shape and quality on all PRS models?

Abalam looks more colorful like abalone. (see below) Do you think they used mother of pearl on the core ones that are whiter?

Are the birds consistant in shape and quality on all PRS models?

Dear Forum, Are the birds consistent from guitar to guitar over the last two decades are there small changes? Are there subtle differences from guitar to guitar, or are they all pretty much identical? I know there are hollowed out birds and solid birds. I am just concerned with the solid...

Anybody know what RED color is on Tim Mahoney's old PRS guitar?

I contacted a guitar tech that worked for 311 during that same time frame and he said that it was vintage cherry with the visible grain.

Anybody know what RED color is on Tim Mahoney's old PRS guitar?

Is it also possible it could be the old 'red metallic' paint? I am just having trouble seeing any wood grain on any of the footage. Granted it is pretty low quality footage. Like this one called 'Burgundy mist metallic':

Anybody know what RED color is on Tim Mahoney's old PRS guitar?

Shoot. I would like to buy this exactly style of guitar. Core, 24, birds, vintage cherry, stoptail bridge. The problem is the stoptail bridge. Guitars with these only pop up every once in a while. It could take years for a Cherry one to come up for sale. I called Guitar Center to see if they...
