I think your assessment is accurate. In the end, they are similar but also very different too. The necks, the pickups, the tuners, the tone, quite different. I obviously own both and I'm surprised at just how great both of them are.
I like Sweetwater a lot. However, I think since I have a local GC, I'd probably go that route since I can just take it back to the store. But I even hate to do that if I'm so unsure. I already have two SE 594 McCarty versions and I don't need a third if the tone from the Myers is close enough to...
Unfortunately, nobody local to me has a Myers in stock. I would have to order it then return it if I don't like it. That's an option, but I'd prefer not to have to do that.
I have for some reason gotten it into my mind that I need a semi hollow guitar. I already own a SE 594 McCarty double cut and also a single cut, I also own a Hollowbody II.
Will a Myers semi hollow sound significantly different from a SE McCarty Single cut?
So, today I picked up an SE Silver Sky in Stone Blue with rosewood board. I am looking forward to having it in my collection! I had some gear that I traded straight up for it. I am stoked to have another PRS!
Right now, the Cutlass in HSS layout is on sale for $399 at MF. I went ahead and traded in a guitar I don't use for the Cutlass after getting GC to match the MF price. I think I may also consider the Silver Sky. There is a used one at a local shop. I want to, of course, play it first. God I love...
Thanks for the reply! Have you had a chance to play the Cutlass by any change to compare them? I'll admit that right now I am leaning heavily toward the Silver Sky since I love my PRS guitars. But, the Cutlass is cheaper and seems fairly comparable.
I'd like some honest opinions from anyone who may have tried both? I am on the fence about this one. I already own three PRS guitars and am considering adding a Silver Sky. However, I have heard some say the Silver Sky sounds a little darker than a typical strat. I played around with a Cutlass...
I presently own an SE 594 SC and a 594 DC, and a Hollowbody 2. I was wondering if there has been any talk of a SE 594 semi hollow? I do know of the Zach Myers and the Custom 22. The Custom 22 I played today was quite nice, but I would prefer a set bridge and the vintage neck. The wide and thin...
Thanks guys! I am not sure if it's worth doing or not. It's probably $150 to $200 in time and materials and I'm not sure the benefit would be worth it.
The title is misleading since I did own an SE Hollow body baritone for a while a few years ago. So, I'm not completely new to the brand. However, after years of owning strats, teles, and Les Pauls, I finally decided to try PRS again. And, I fell in love! Seriously, head over heels! I absolutely...
