You could use a wooden shim, but instead of using a thick one and raising the neck parallel to where it is now, sand a slight taper on the shim (thinner at the neck end, thicker at the bridge end) so that the neck angles back slightly more and you get the required string height at the bridge...

I had a similar issue with my Cu22 when I moved to drop C and fitted heavier gauge strings - couldn’t get the low E saddle back far enough for it to intonate properly. I got round the issue by removing the small spring from the intonation screw and that let me get the saddle where it needed to be.

I had the same issue when I set my Cu22 up for drop C. I used the same string gauge as you and couldn’t get the low E saddle back far enough for it to intonate. I got round it by removing the spring behind the saddle block - that gave me (just) enough travel.

Definitely just try it, but since you’re happy with how it plays currently, measure the existing action, neck relief and first fret clearance before you make the change. You’re likely going to need to tweak the truss rod a little after the string change in order to maintain the relief and action...

I had exactly this issue on my previous 513, which I bought brand new. As others have said, the pickup is mounted on a circuit board, and the issue appeared when I started messing about with pickup heights. Take care to make any tweaks evenly, moving the two humbucker screws at the treble side...
