Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

    1) I explained in my posts of March 15 that in a PRS SE it is a single rod dual action truss rod by way of 2 counteracting nuts and an unthreaded hex nut to turn the rod. 2) Yes it is a feature on SE guitars as well as core. 3) Yes double rod single action exists, and yes single rod dual...

Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

Herewith the specs of a random Se guitar, c.q. SE CE 24 from the PRS site. And a copy of my comment above: "It is a actually a dual action truss rod in the shape of a single rod truss rod, for lack of better words. the bottom nut has a normal thread while the top one has an opposite turning...

Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

Thanx for all the tips. I releveled the neck. I was worried about the board as well. It looks good and measures okay, but I fear for these little errors that only appear when all is glued and in its final place. I had a quick look at affordable completely ready 25" fret boards in Europe but no...

Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

@deathworlder and Jason It is a actually a dual action truss rod in the shape of a single rod truss rod, for lack of better words. the bottom nut has a normal thread while the top one has an opposite turning spiral. So the wood between the square nuts gets either contracted or pushed apart. The...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

I decided to give PRS the benefit of the doubt and today my new Blood Orange SE CE 24 arrived. It had a strange scratchy spot on the back, ironically close to the inspection approved stickers, and worse, the truss rod was maxed out and couldn't get the neck anywhere near straight. Shame because...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

I recognize a lot in your post. I do my own set ups, fret levelling, crowning, nuts, and I now took of a PRS fretboard, changing a truss rod and reshaping a neck. Unfortunately here in Europe (and maybe everywhere) replacement PRS SE truss rods seem unavailable. I may be demanding about...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

Thanx that is useful information. So the issues you describe are relatively recent, just a couple of months ago. The issues are not 'structural', but definitely not like the PRS SE's I bought with dates from like 2 yours ago; these guitars were perfect.

Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

Some pictures for what it looks like now. The top thread is busted and PRS dealer here in The Netherlands is 99% sure that PRS don't have replacement truss rods for the SE series. So I will probably have the figure out something. I thought about putting the the rod's downer block with a a good...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

Thanx for the feedback, glad that your purchase was a happy one and exactly what my view of a PRS is. I had very bad experiences with another brand in a what you would maybe call a boutique store. They have their own fully locally built brand and carry various other brands. The more than 1000...

Part II. PRS SE fretboard removed, what to do with the recessed truss rod and the bow?

So the fretboard is separated. The truss rod seems to be working, although I can't check the bottom thread block yet. How to solve the problem of the neck having too much bow, while the truss rod bolt is already too deeply recessed to grip and straighten the neck? Your suggestions are very...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

I am not sure I understand your reply. I didn't say I had any bad experiences with PRS in my post, on the contrary. Maybe you refer to another post than mine? I said I read about an increase in QC issues, which it appears several people in this thread confirmed. I also gave you the references...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

Thanx, I remember that PRS's that I bought in Europe had a QC certificate from London/the UK. So it is not only Maryland. The scaling issues stay the same of course. As I said in another comment, as a consumer, I don't care what challenges a company faces. As a consumer I care about the quality...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

Haha thanx, I am an interim CEO at times, so I have an idea about production and supply chain. But I don't care. When I am the consumer I don't care about the issues they may have had because of corona based faulty forecasts and ramping up production by 200%. I care about the quality I get in my...

Longing for a SE CE 24; Any positive developments about the QC of the SE line?

Exactly that is what forum members refer to and what raises my concern. I was hoping that people more knowledgeable about PRS that me might have some info about a decrease in QC issues. Asking about QC doesn't make one a troll.
