Has anyone tried Stainless Steel frets on a Silver Sky? I just did exactly that in my core 2018 Tungsten and wow (Jescar 55090), it transformed the guitar (maintained the 7.25 radius). It has always sounded great but those bad boys open some frequencies the stock configuration was hiding, plus...
Hi guys! Was wondering what would happen from a tonal perspective by removing the resistor in the volume pot, has anyone tried it? Is clear its purpose but why using a 300k pot + a resistor to lower it down instead of a 250k pot from the start?. I know, is a signature model but from a technical...
Sorry in advance for this overly asked question but, here it goes anyways ... I'm in the edge of buying my 2nd silver sky (already have a launch year Tungsten model) and was wondering when the specs were updated? There are some stores that have the Golden Mesa maple version still and that would...
Hi guys, I'm back being almost the only one complaining about the frets lifespan... So, frets are showing their premature aging as we speak but this is not what I'm typing about.
I'm having issues about setting up the guitar conformable for my liking with no notes shocking when bending...
That might be the best option... can some of you add pics of your frets... would be good to see others ware if any vs mine.
comparison will end up my thoughts.
Agree. Of course John has lots of guitars to chose from, don't think he plays 1 specifically for 1 year straight.
And that's exactly my point. I'm no SRVs so don't know why the wear is as noticeable.
Frets are getting worn out real quick across the fretboard. I don't think I'm doing anything that can generate this situation (using regular EB .10 slinkys), that why it's worrying. in my original post you can see a quick video of the current setup.
What I'm saying is that's hard to believe...
No static issues whatsoever to report.
Current rig:
Silver Sky (Tungsten) > Polytune Mini > Thorpy The Dane > Greer Lightspeed > KTone The Duellist > Snouse BlackBox > Walrus Warhorne (currently out of the chain) > Strymon's Capistan/BlueSky > Boss RC3 Looper > Two Rock Studio Sig > Marshall...
Just did a unfortunate durability test with my Silver Sky... The good thing is that it survived with no issues apparently. Drop it knee height (bit higher actually, was standing up) and landed with the headstock on the pedalboard (on the side of The Dane to be specific), then reach the floor...
Try it! It has definitely the "mojo". I come from the latest Fender Standard Strat and it is 100% comparable (better quality in most cases. Have seen some SS that not live through the hype and some cheaper fenders that do).
Been fortunate enough to had play 5 Silver Sky's (including mine) in the last 6 months and have a couple of thoughts about it. First will accept I’m pretty nerdy and OCD almost diagnosed (well, not really but you get my point).
I have looked for:
Tone: Same as in feel, pretty similar in tone...
I haven't notice anything particularly uncomfortable on the "rolling the volume / treble lost" thing mentioned. Sure, there is some but nothing that can drive my attention specially compared with other strats I have seen in my time.
