What is an equivalent fret size??

I’m led to believe that PRS guitars use Jescar fretwire. The standard is 47104 while DGTs use 57110. They’re approximately the equivalents of Dunlop 6150 and 6100.

    S2 Mods

Sorry, I used a set of 59/09s. I think I saw something on here once about the wiring of those G&B pickups. If I come across it, I'll post it here.

    S2 Mods

Hello there, Sorry for not posting until now. I've only just seen your message. Here's the diagram now: http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r481/tedmccarty/PRS/CustomwiringforP22_zpscb7c77b7.jpg I made this using the original PRS diagram, which shows a PRS switch, but you can also use a Fender...

Black Cherry stain to fix a scar? Can anyone help?

I don't think I'd even attempt to repair that. What you could do though is stain it. Try an appropriate colour on some similar coloured mahogany first to make sure you like the way it turns out. Remember to let it dry on your test piece before you do it for real. Or you could just live with it...

Hollowbody controls mod: 2 x vol and tone

I like the idea of changing my non-piezo Hollowbody II to a DGT/piezo-style layout with two volumes and a tone plus a mini-switch for coil-tapping. That way, it would look like a regular piezo-equipped Hollowbody but would have a lot more sounds available. Of course, I'd need to change the...

Black Cherry stain to fix a scar? Can anyone help?

I've repaired a couple of small holes in the finish on the back of a CE-22 using touch-up nitrocellulose paint for guitars. Because the repair is all cherry rather than cherry with a clear coat on top, it's thicker and therefore darker than the original "vintage" cherry finish, but it's better...

There's no such thing as a gold SE stoptail, right?

You could have one anodised and finished in gold.

PRS CE 22 20th Anniversary - pickups change

At the time yours was made, PRS were using four DuPont Hot Hues colours: cappuccino, blazing copper, indigo and purple. I had a cappuccino CE-22 at a time, and although it's hard to be sure from your picture, yours looks to be the same colour. You should be able to find a set of 59/09s for a...

New for 2017. Does this guitar remind you of something?

I reckon in a smoky bar you might mistake that for a PRS. ;)

Recommendations for an amp to complement an Archon 50 combo

I know exactly what you mean. I've just heard a YouTube video of Mike Ault playing a DG30 with the gain on 10 and master on 1, which makes me think it might well be usable at home, but when I said I would be happy with Blackface cleans and some grit, I was thinking about the kind of sounds I'm...

Recommendations for an amp to complement an Archon 50 combo

The DG Custom 30 is one of those amps that I will probably wind up owning at some point. Unfortunately, I'll have to import it, which won't be cheap. In the end though, I suspect that I would also be happy with any good amp that gave me blackface cleans and grit, and there are a lot of great...

Recommendations for an amp to complement an Archon 50 combo

I have an Xotic SL, and perhaps that's really all I need. I guess I'm just exploring my options in terms of amps and trying to find some quality gear to do justice to the nice guitars I have.

Recommendations for an amp to complement an Archon 50 combo

Well, it's good to know that some of what I'm looking for is volume dependent. If I can't get the full sound for that reason, I guess I'll just have to accept that limitation, so what you've said helps a lot. At the same time, an Imperial will probably give me the nice clean jazz tone I'm...

Recommendations for an amp to complement an Archon 50 combo

One of the reasons I'm looking at the Tone King is the Ironman II attenuator. It sounds like it could be ideal for pushing the amp hard at low volume to get that sound. I'm not even thinking about technique and ability at this point; I'm hoping they'll come free with a pile of cool gear. That's...
