I suspect this is an issue with the nitro over CAB finish. Have seen a few post-2018 PRSi with this problem. I appreciate the vibe of older guitars and having nitro as an option, but I prefer durability and longevity in my finishes and fear this may eventually be the next V12.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Going to try wrapping the wells with teflon/aluminum tape or similar and see how that goes. It's a killer older SE for sure, so hoping that resolves things.

Thanks for the reply! Cosmetically not worried about it, just having trouble getting rid of any buzz without the action being too high and assuming that may be due to the lean. I may change out the pickup rings as the ones the prev. owner put in are huge and the bridge pickup is very high.

Beautiful guitar - Frostbite Glow is definitely one of my favorite PRS finishes. Really hoping PRS puts out a Core 7 at some point.

I like the Fiore, but I'm assuming we will see some more releases this year, like the MT-100. Similar to ESP with their Japanese line last year, PRS might just be trying to catch up on orders following all of 2020s COVID-related issues.

I have a set in my 03 Custom 22 Stoptail. Not quite as clean/modern sounding as the 85/15s in my Custom 24, but more aggressive than a PAF-style pickup or the #7s, for example. Under high gain, they sound quite '80s to me. I will say I find them unremarkable clean, esp. compared to the 85/15s.

When a burl top actually has a nice burl, it kills. Looks like a many-eyed Lovecraftian monster.

I have more experience with the Custom Custom, but both it and the Custom 5 have a tone more pronounced in the low mids, but are overall somewhat scooped sounding (nothing amp EQ can't fix). I found it easy to get a very 80s style metal tone on to stuff like Pantera, I'm sure it would be fine...

The combination of Satin Nitro and the way these tops were selected looks amazing, I'll always love the ME.

How about some roasted CEs stateside to make up for it? ;)
